Anyone have this or any experience with this player?
I'm looking to use it strictly for CD/DVD-Audio/SACD and want to know if it's a decent player?

I bought one on clearance a couple of years ago and the disc tray stopped working after 2 weeks. When it worked, it was an excellent player.Display: Sony 42" LCD

I have one similar to it and it works pretty well for the money. The only bad part is that it leaves you looking for something better. The Gear... So, do you think for $188 shipped it would be a good buy?

Got to agree with John there. OK for what it is. However, I don't know what the original price on this unit is? Does Yamaha have an archival site you could check?
Also, can anyone confirm that Yamaha used some Philips transports and firmware in a few of their DVD/CD units?

From what I gather, the 2700 was suppose to be Yamaha's first all original player - not a rebadge. Yamaha's archive files have it at $999 MSRP, but I have no idea what it's street value was when it was current. I found them for $399 on the web and I can pick it up for the mentioned $188 brand new - not B-stock and not refurbed.
The audio section is my main interest:
High rigidity, high vibration damping mechanism
Large transformer exclusively for audio section
Top class 192kHz/24-bit audio DACs
(2 channels x 4)
Audio Direct mode
I figure for $188 new in the box I'd give it a listen. -
Looks like these were $899 when Cruthfield was carrying them.
