91 years...

I just got home from the funeral of my grandfather, who passed away Tuesday night at the age of 91. It seems so surreal. We used to always joke that he would outlive us all, because he was so healthy up until the past year. He survived Pearl Harbor, and Okinawa. He outlived my grandmother, and the woman he married after she passed. It's just hard to wrap my head around the idea that he is gone.

Sorry to hear, hopefully you learned a thing or two from a guy who experienced history. I love talking to the elderly, their knowledge is simply priceless in a world of idealogical bloggers.

Sorry for your loss. Just relish the good memories and know that 91 years is a good and long life. I lost my dad to cancer in 2009 when he was 62, and I agree that its hard to take hold of and accept. With him surviving the Battle of Okinawa, he'd want you to keep your chin up and get past this.

Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all :D

Sorry to hear about the passing of your grandfather, i know of what you speak when you say its "surreal". I lost my dad last year and my mom the year before and I sometimes find myself reaching for the phone to share something with them :( You would think by now it would have sunk in but, it hasn't.

    Take care!

It is a shame that generation is almost gone now. They do not make men like they used to. Keep your memories close.

Thanks guys. I think the worst part is going to be when we have a family get together without him there being a smarta** the entire time. He always made spending lots of time with the family bearable. Anyway, thank you all.
