Help...
I want to refinish our rustic dining room table. It's just stained, with no sealing finish on it.
I'd like to sand it lightly, re-stain and use some sort of finish coat. This is where my question comes in; Bev doesn't want a shiny finish, but we want good protection--what would be the best product to get this result?
Thanks alot in advance...

Table came out real nice, thanks again Jesse. For those wondering, the steps were:
-Mineral spirits to remove contaminates, wax, ect
-Light sanding w/220 grit to remove scratches, water glass stains, etc
-Wipe down to remove sanding dust
-Stained with minwax golden oak using a brush, let set for 8 minutes before wiping (let set overnight)
-3 coats of wipe-on minwax poly in satin finish. 3hrs between coats.
The satin worked perfectly, giving the finish a rubbed look, without being overly shiney. It now matches the finish on the buffet.
I'll post an "after" pic tonight.Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2 -
Good info! I have some furniture similar to this that I was wondering how I should finish it. I at least now have the direction I may need to go in. Thanks to you both for sharing!I know just enough to be dangerous, but don't tell my wife, she thinks I'm a genius.
