Harman/Kardon hk740 Receiver...

I just ordered a new Harman/Kardon hk3390 receiver, to replace my circa-1982 hk740 2x35 receiver, and I'm entertaining suggestions on what to do with the old one.
I may hang on to it for a while, as it will be tough to part with: it was my first, and only, up to now, purchased brand-new, as soon as I had the bucks and a place to put it, after graduating from college. (Damn, I'm getting misty-eyed....)
Anyway, I checked online, and I don't see any listed for sale, so I presume it has absolutely no value, even for "vintage" folks.
I still have the original box, manual, and brochure (and receipt, for that matter). It does "pop", a few seconds after you power it up, but I think it did that from the beginning.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

Thanks, Mike: that's kinda the answer I wanted.
I considered putting the "karma" symbol on my post, but I'm not sure this is really a "karma" piece of equipment. -
yeah...i figure i'll keep the scott as long as it's still dignified..i just gave it a cleaning and the controls are all quiet...it will always be the 1st;)

Yeah, I cleaned all the controls on mine a few years ago; it quieted things down nicely, and they "feel" better, too. (Any ideas on the "pop", at power on? That may be a question for a different forum.)

Just curious, why did you choose the HK 3390 vs the HK 3490 which has just a bit more power?
I have come close many times to picking up either an HK 3490 or an Outlaw RR 2150 to drive a vintage set of AR91 speakers (my first real audio class speakers).
I too find myself keeping my old gear, so would advise you do the same.SDA SRS 1.2

Good question eeagle.
The same occurred to me. I picked up the higher HK a while back for a small set up in an office; a nice performer in its price range, but some reviews say the Outlaw is an even better buy?

eeagle and cnh: I'm driving a pair of Polk Audio Monitor 7Bs (Peerless tweeters/rebuilt crossovers; I'm the original owner; same age as the old HK receiver), and I thought the 3390 was plenty of power for my speakers.

I received the hk3390 yesterday - ordered from Amazon, and sold and shipped by Amazon, not a third-party seller - and it was packed so poorly I sent it back, without even opening it, because I couldn't imagine that it had survived the trip!
The 3390 box had been placed in a larger carton, with nothing on the bottom or sides, and only some crumpled/folded brown paper on the top. The inner box could slide around, all over the bottom of the larger carton, which was pretty well beat up.
There was one piece of clear tape holding the bottom and top of the box closed, with nothing else on the flaps, so there were large gaps all over; a little more tape would have at least helped to "stiffen" the box up a bit.
This is a common enough issue now that Amazon has a "packaging complaint" button on the customer service website. (Apparently overpacking is a problem, as well.)
I re-ordered (for just a few bucks more) from an online retailer that should have a little more experience in packing electronics for shipment - we'll see how they do. -
that sucks!! i wont do biz w them anymore, either! the other day i ordered a CD...jerry garcia..live at kean college...statement says ships in 1-2days..great...next day i get an email saying wont ship till 11/12! so i ask for a refund...the fkg **** refused.. so yes i'm done w amazon:D
