That kind of information is best kept in a PM, not his FS thread.

Since I was a little kid, I've always wanted to own a pair of Legacy towers. Good luck with your sale!

well i live near Springfield Illinois where the legecy factory is and let me just say all who live close enough do yourself a favor and go check them out. Bill is a wonderful guy and just comes across as an regular guy who loves great sound. The whispers and the Helix line are the best i personally ever heard, and i have listened to quite a few WAY ABOVE my price range. ie. Wilson,Focal and advontgard(spelling?) I always seem to come back to the Legacy line. My dream speakers would by one of 2pr. Whispers or SRS1.2tl the polks seem to be more likely as whispers cost 15,000.00

    good luck with the sale:tongue:

Well, there has been some interest in these wonderful speakers, but no buyers. So, I am CONCIDERING on selling my SRS 1.2TL's. All 16 MW's are original and perfect. I installed 16 RD0198's. The crossover plates have been replaced and are perfectly black with red screen printing. Cabinet's and grills are 9 out of 10.

Remember, they are not for sale for now. I am just thinking about it and looking to see if there is any interest.

The Legacy Focus Speakers were never sold. Currently they are not for sale. It is a very difficult decision to sell these.

Really my man, the 20/20's were a step up from the regular Focus, the newer HD'S are even a bigger jump. Go get an ear on some and start looking for a used pair for under 6 g's.

Just as a side note, I've personally owned 1.2's and SRT's.....the 20/20's imho anyway where hands down better than both. I sold the SRT's to get the Legacy's and never looked back, they never gave me a reason to anyway. Good luck on your journey.

As tonyb stated above, the FOCUS sounded a lot better than my Polk 1.2TL's. Especially from the mids on up, more detail and crisper highs with zero harshness. The small problem with the FOCUS I am havid is when used with my Velodyne HGS-12 (two of them) there seems to be a bass cancellaton going on. It doesn't happen with the 1.2TL's or my RTA-11's.

What do you have them crossed over at ? Have you played with crossover frequencys ? Also, have you played around with the switches on the back of the Focus ? Are they too close to a rear wall ? They do need some room to breath and image correctly.

They are crossed over at 80 Hz.
I didn't really play with the crossover frequencies.
The switches on the back are set to the highs and lows are up and the mids are down.
They are about one foot away from the back and side walls.

Throw the crossover down to around 30-40 and throw all the switches in the upward position. Try and get 2 feet from a rear wall and 2-3 feet from a side wall about 9 feet apart with a slight toe in. Being so close to the rear and side walls will give you some boomy low end. Also, they need some current so a good amp is a must with these puppies even though they are 94-95 efficient. The newer Focus hd's eliminate that 12 in. woofer in the back so closer placement to a rear wall could be obtained with the newer model.

Thanks tonyb, I'll give your advice a try. The amp I am using is a Sony ES TA-N77ES from 1989. 200 WPC with a weight of 60 pounds.

That amp should do well enough. But if you ever get a chance my friend, a 50 watt on up tube amp will make you crap your shorts. Something to consider anyway.
