Placement of center

At long last, I am spending the time needed to get the HT set up right. The learning from the forum about the need to set the BDP for DV-Audio was amazing....lossless is to be blessed.

I have the CSi5 and invert it, but it is on the floor about 10 feet from listening area. I have thought that this allowed the angle of the speaker to direct the sound up to ear level.....do I need a protractor to see if it should sit higher?

thanks...

I used a tape measure to approximate the angle. Some day when I buy a real TV , I'll be able to have my center closer to ear level height.

A center stand would probably help the most. I like Sanus personally.

Neil, ideally the tweeter should be at ear level or, next best, pointed at ear level, but it isn't necessary to be ultra-precise about this. Tests generally show essentially no difference in the vertical dispersion of speakers over a +/- 5 degree range. Inverting the SCi5 so that the slanted surface acts to direct it more toward your ears is probably close enough if it looks like it's pointing the tweeter about at your ear level. If not, changing the slant with door stops or other wedges can be tried.
