I built my own comp and tried to dual boot 7 with Snow Leopard, but gave up after a bit. It takes a lot of work and I had problems getting OSX installed, which you have to already have installed to install Snow Leopard.

I've got a boot iso for my dell d620. No dual boot crap.
Boot up with the burned iso, and then swith over to the
10.6 install dvd and go for it.
It's supposed to work pretty well with this set up and the dell.
I've got a spare drive and for $29 for the OS, I thought I'd
give it a whirl. Windows 7 pisses me off, and so does the MAC
    overpriced hardware.

I'd say give it a go. However, I'm not sure if you can get updates for the OS. The OS might know it's not installed on official Mac hardware when it goes to update. But you may not care about this - I probably wouldn't.

I'm running 7 right now because I got it for free through my university. I hated Vista, but they did seem to fix most of the problems when they released 7; so if you're basing your opinion of 7 on your dislike of Vista, you may want to check out 7 thoroughly: it impressed me.

As far as installing the Mac OS, I had problems with booting the iso. It would hang quite often and I even tried separate releases, until it became too much of a hassle and I gave up.

Was going to do this on a netbook but decided to just go get another mac and I love it with the multi taks touch pad and everything else. I may be in college for computers but I love my mac. Vista left a bad taste in my mouth than Microsoft had the audacity to charge you another 350 to upgrade to a new OS 5 months later, and on top of that make people upgrade to new computer with xp support stopping. Ya still mad about all that.

Who's forcing you to upgrade? And why would you pay $350?

Mac OS is the best IMO lol. Linus is nice as well but not much support plus mac is a bit more friendly than linux.

I have a Optiplex GX620 running OSX 10.5.6 and love it. I use it to host media for my Squeezebox and XBMC. I'd love to install it on my laptop, but there's no support for my wireless card and I don't feel like cracking the case to replace the card.

I'm going to try an install tonight. Think it'll run on my Inspiron 6000? I don't know the requirements offhand for OSX nowadays. I had a hackintosh long ago but that was on the last version of OSX....

No crashing, rarely if ever gets viruses or malware, very stable, not freezing, can run for days and months without needed rebooting, no cluttered registry like windows that bogs the computer down over time, lots of hardware support, runs just about anything you want and can dual boot if needed right through mac os, partition on mac and linux never needs defraging. I can go on and on just very easy to get use to and very enjoyable knowing every time I power on my mac it is going to run. Oh and no shutting down and please wait while 45 updates install. Your lucky if you get one or two a month.
