If a system "CAN'T" reproduce a 105db peak, then it shouldn't be called a 'Hi-Fi system...( as quoted by Sam Tellig )....

    And yet I've seen a number of live performances where 100 dB never came close to being.

    Yup !!! Me too..But it is nice to know that the equipment can handle it if necessary..

    I don't totally agree with the statement by Mr. Tellig. When I hear High Fidelity, I think of good sounding systems. I'm sure the KABOOM boombox can hit a 105db peak but I consider it trash. I agree that a good sounding system must hit over 100db for peaks though.
