mm6501 tweeter casing

I'm trying to install the tweeters in the factory tweeter locations in the sail panel, without much luck. The factory tweeters are bare and tiny, but I think I could get the 1" tweeters in there with some minor trimming. The problem is that the polk tweeter has the casing and grill on it that adds about a 1/2" of diameter.
So is there an easy way of getting all this housing off the tweeter, or should I give up on 1) polks, or 2) factory sail panel mounting?
Thanks

I think you can take the casing off. Tried turning it around and get off the clips?Pioneer P88RS-II | Polk Audio SR5250 | JL Audio 12w6v2 | 2x Genesis 3 Stereo 100 | Genesis 3 Monoblock

I don't see any clips. There's what may be a black glue around the edge, and then a glob of hot glue around the wire leads and between the tweeter and housing.
