What is wrong with my doggie?

About 3 days ago this "bump" showed up on the right side of her face ---

It looks like something bit her...

It has not really gotten any worse that I can tell - but it definitely has not gone down...

The earliest I can take her to the vet would be Tuesday, any thoughts?

Also - her demeanor has not changed, very energetic, eats regular, everything is normal except for the bump

Take a closer look, see if she did indeed get bitten by something or got her mouth around something she wasn't supposed to and instead poked/hurt herself.

    Any signs of puss/infection?

To the left of the "spot" I see what I would classify as a white head (pimple) about 1/32nd around - other wise I see nothing but a small itsy bitsy red dot in the center that could resemble a bite...

Outside of the swelling I would see nothing that would make me want to rush her to an emergency vet...

My huskey once had something like that, later found out she had splintered herself and the area that had swelled up got a minor infection. Didn't even notice though because the swelling was very minor and her thick double coat hid it well. Nothing anti biotics couldn't take care of.

Hopefully it's nothing major, which I doubt it is anyway. She's probably in some pain though :(

    Here are some more pics....

If I push on the area or "squeeze" lightly she does not wince or make any sounds -- not sure...

Sorry I couldn't resist. Whatever it is, It doesn't look too bad. Looks like some type of tick bite?

Trey, just be sure to get her to the vet. I am not trying to be a "sky is falling" sort of person, but we had a dog a few years ago, Buddy was his name, who had a knot come up on the side of his face almost overnight. I thought he had maybe been stung and didn't think too much about it. Like your dog, it didn't seem to bother him at all. When it didn't go away after a couple of days we took him to the vet. It was cancer. The vet said it was one of the most aggressive cancers he had ever seen on a dog. We tried to have it removed, twice to no avail. He was a great dog. Your situation is probably not like mine...but just get her to the vet asap...and hope it is an over-reaction.

I hope it is nothing at all. The difference between Monday or Tuedsay probably makes no difference.

I found out the vet was open today and rushed down there...

Simple wound - nothing serious, they gave me some antibiotics to put on it and just to keep an eye on it...

I do the same thing, meaning always get too impatient to wait.

Since they can't talk I always assume the worst and inevitably end up on "Daddy, save the kitty" trips at 3 in the morning and on Sunday's. :D

(I'm enjoying your fine MIT PC's as I write; I hope the vet didn't take too much of the proceeds)

    Good Luck,
