These electrostatic speakers keep popping up on here with rave reviews, I need to get my ears on a pair and see what all the fuss is about.

Believe it or not a lot of best buys have them go take a look at yours with the magnolia center. Ask to hear the vantage or summit x's

I did that and listened to the ML they had there, they sounded good but no match for what I have now, I would like to hear some of the more prestigious ones some time. I am kind of tired of the normal cone and dome based speakers at this time and want to hear what else is out there, the Carvers really got me going.

    No worries :D

Imo, I think Martin Logan's are a bit up there in price for what you get. Don't get me wrong they sound great but I've always preferred Magneplanar speakers over ML's, which can be had for even less.

Get your ears on a pair of modded Magnepan 1.6's, or hell even some Tympani's. I was blown away by the tri-panel maggies when I heard them :D

The Vantage is the break point in the ML line. The speakers below that point are very good, just not at the caliber of the higher lines. Vantage used to be in the Reserved class but two new speakers the Theos and Ethos pushed the Vantage down a notch.

If you can listen to the Vantage or above on good gear, the ESL mids and highs will knock your socks off.
