Adding an Amp

Just curious do you think adding a 5 channel amp to my system would be worth the cost? My room is 15 X 12. Not really thinking about loudness more about the sound and clearness of the sound.

Also thinking about changeing the Monitor 40,s for dipole bipoles.

Speakers all benefit from external amps, but I've heard the Monitors are pretty damn efficient and run perfectly fine powered by an AVR.

Hopefully others will chime in on the differences, but I'll be sure that even those speakers will benefit. Get ready for more detail+dynamics even at lower listening volumes. ;)

Drinks are on you right? ;)

Never ventured out that far east other than Florida and South Kakilaki (Carolina for some of you), who knows maybe for Polkfest one of these years.

And to the OP, what's your budget? We're always welcome to spend other peoples cash for them :D:D:D

Before you purchase any amp, ask yourself, what do I think is missing or I want more of? Sometimes an amp may not be the right first choice.

I had some very fine gear in the early eighties that I either sold off or traded to "get" an amp and other gear. There was no Internet to look for advise, just magazines. Some of the gear I let go would have served me well today.

There may be other things you can do before changing or adding pieces in the never ending quest for the "sound"

I had a Polk Monitor set up awhile back and ran it first off of an Arcam AVR300 receiver. It sounded great.
