I've been interested in the effect of using this, but every time I look at the $60ish for a couple of pieces of felt I just think it's too much.

So I used the wonderful internet and found this:

http://www.durofelt.com/image_26.html

I bought a 12x24 piece of 1/4" wool felt for $17, shipping included.

Just in case anyone else has been wanting to try it but didn't want to pay too much.

My understand cutting this stuff is almost impossible - hence the cost of diffraction be gone...

    Looks like they CNC it....

    But 17 is definitely cheaper.

I dont think anyone on this forum can cut a 1.5" circle in that thick material the way they do.... nor cut the lines as straight as they do.

The wool they use for those pads is DENSE, very thick and not easy to tear or cut in the least bit...

I honestly never thought it would be difficult to cut. I got the medium density, so we'll see when it gets here. Lots of tools around here.

its a 1/4 inch, seems like you could stamp it for a circle or clamp and cut......Ricardo will figure it out at least I think he will.

I'm also interesting in hearing how this works out. I've seen and, actually, own, some bookshelves that use a 5" foam diffraction wafer that has a 1+ inch cut out for the tweeter in the center.

I'm also curious as to 'why' wool would be a first choice?

Geoff727 in Seattle applied some anti-diffraction material to the SDA-1C's I purchased from him last year. Looks to be a kind of felt. He did a great job of cutting and shaping it to the two tweeters per side. I'll see if I can find some pics of it he took.

Here's a link to the thread he posted when he was selling them. I'm not sure of what exact material he used, but there are pics of them.

That stuff's also supposed to be useful for lining the interior of the cabinets, much like you'd use polyester sheet batting. Good price compared to what I found when I was building my last set of speakers.

Ricardo- What's the word on this? I know this thread is 15 months old and you don't have the speakers anymore, but I'm interested in your impression about if the tweak improved anything or not. Seeing Trey's speakers in the flea market got me thinking about this.
