Keep in mind that there have been many instances where people have bought new cables on ebay and other such sites, and they've turned out to be counterfeits as well.

I've heard of several instances of this happening with Monster and Audioquest cables. It's not just with used cables.

Yep I am afraid of going on ebay and such . thats why I started this thread so I know I can get the best deal on authentic cable

I always thought that if the cables were packaged in the brand box they would be authentic but this may not be the case anymore

What gear are you running? Some IC's and speaker cables might be synergistic with one setup, and not another. I will say though that you might want to talk to Ben here on the forum. He was making pure silver IC's that were really nice, and not expensive, and that would free up more dough for the speaker cable. Not sure if he's still doing cables, it's just a thought. :)

Have you heard from Ben lately? I had a good PM back and fourth to do some modding on my CRS xovers, but havent heard from him in about two weeks....

On a second note, Amazon has these - http://www.amazon.com/Monster-Standard-THX-Certified-Subwoofer-Interconnect/dp/B00006RHZG/ref=sr_1_28?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1287751661&sr=1-28 - A 16 ft monster "thx" sub connect. I'm running a no name cable to my sub right now, and think this may be a weak link in my system. Any input on this cable, I can't sink a fourtune into cables yet, but looking to get some bang for my buck...

Everybody has an opinion about speaker cables and interconnects and which brand is better. In all honesty, I think it depends on your system and the synergy you desire -- it's definitely subjective.

A couple of months ago I stumbled upon The Cable Company's used cable library. You can basically rent out cables to see which brand suits your system the best.

    http://www.thecableco.com/tryathome.php

I've never tried this service, but I know The Cable Company is legit as I've bought some MIT ICs from Used Cable, which is a branch of The Cable Company. They have a huge selection for really good prices. Here's their site:

+1 for monoprice for DIY cables and connectors. Good prices and great service. Their 12G copper speaker wires are priced right, as well as their banana plugs.

I have a bunch a Signal Cable stuff (interconnects, power cables, speaker cables). I have been really happy with all of it. Great product at a great price. Yes, there are some cheaper options, but I felt the SC products offered a fantastic "bang for the buck" for their quality. Frank is also a pleasure to deal with and in the past he has offered a discount to Club Polk members.

I can definitely recommend their bulk Mic cable. It's 8 mil jacket, 16AWG, drain+woven copper shield.

Made a bunch of custom length RCA, RCA to XLR (cross linked), and XLR/XLR for a buddy of mine. Lucky dog just picked up a Sunfire Tru-Sub for free out of a conference center of a building that was going to be demo'd.
