I have to vent about this

I ordered about 30 bucks worth of stuff, just some cabling to get my speakers finished up when my binding post actually get here.

The first time I ordered just cable it came to a rocking 7 bucks in freight. Im cool with that.

This second time they charged me 15 dollars!

Insanity!

To top it off, they dont tell you the shipping charges at the time of checkout. They send you a surprise invoice saying HEY! We just charged you 15 bucks for raped shipping.

While they carry a good selection of products, be wary of this shipping BS.

I do not like it and I am not happy about this.

Exactly why I like to stick to Sonic Craft, Madisound, Zalytron, and Parts Express whenever possible.

When I order early morning next day is next day if not in stock tell me you can ship next day and charge me accordingly...makes me look bad for customers!!!!! aarrrrrrr. and although I b_tch for refund of shipping and they give it to me still pisses me off...its the principal

Yes, they do have a great selection but they go too far in charges. I use Paypal with them, and while they send me an invoice including shipping charges that I can accept or not, they add 2% for using Paypal.

They do ship pretty fast and have good customer service though.

Everything with them has been great except this shipping mess. I dont understand how anyone can run a business with that kind of charge structure. I mean they could charge me 30 dollars for freight and I would be at their mercy unless I took the time to refuse it on my card.

My email to them this morning:

    "Hello.

I received my order (attached) and I found that the resistors are measuring outside of the tolerance:

2.7 ohm resistors are both measuring above 3.0 ohms

0.5 ohm resistors measure 1.0 and 1.4 ohm

I am surprised to see this and I thought they would be tested before shipping them. Please let me know how to proceed.

    Thanks."

Their response less than two hurs later:

    "Hello Ricardo,

Frederik from DUELUND suspect hairline cracks in the element....during shipping.

We are sending rpelacments today (well padded and protected)....DUELUND will repalce to us.

Hope this solution is satisfactory. Thanks for your understnading.

    Sincerely,

    Chris Johnson, President

    PARTS CONNEXION"

I am not sure about the whole transit damage, although there was no padding between the resistors so they could have bumped between them...but I'm sure they will measure before the replacement shipment is sent.

Pretty quick response and meets my expectations.

I used Parts Connexion recently for a couple purchases with a sale coupon. The first time I ordered several caps and resistors, etc. The transaction was fairly smooth, a bit slow and the shipping was reasonable.

The second order was very slow, had to email them 3 times to get a ship date, the shipping fees were slightly higher for less merchandise and it took about 2 weeks to receive the goods.

They have a very good selection of several types of electonics. I would order from them again only if they had the best price and/or was the only place to get something (ie; some Mouser and Digikey orders have a minimum)

IMO, not the worst by far, but not the best either.

To be fair it's not a surprise invoice. Once you place the order they will send you an invoice for your total, including shipping, then it's your choice to pay. I believe they hold your items out of their inventory for 3 days.

The reason they do this is because they don't use an automated shopping cart. Geez, don;t you read the website before you buy? It's stated very clearly on the website and in the conformation e-mail they send you. :)

Also remember they are located in Canada, so shipping is generally a little higher, I believe.

I have dealt with them since before their Sonic Frontier days, and they have always been excellent with a very good selection of quality parts.

They don't charge your card or Paypal account until *after* they send you an invoice, and then you have to confirm it by e-mail. Again this is because they don't use a live, automated shopping cart program for internet orders. Someone has to physically check the inventory, calculate shipping charges, and generate an email.

If paying by CC or Paypal that tansaction has to be physically generated as well. When they have a big sale they admitted to me by email that they do get bogged down and to be patient as they are filing orders as fast as humanly possible.

An automated POS cart program can be very costly, so I can see why they do ot this way. I have 100% confidence in them to back their product and take care of issues (like Ricardo had). Try working with Welbourne Labs sometime, very frustrating.

With Welborne Labs I just pay 50% initially because I know they're going to charge me twice for the order.

Had to dig this one up...

I placed an order with Parts Connexion 10 days ago because they do have great selection. After a status email or two to them, I finally got the Dec 20th invoice on Dec 30. All the shipping charges were fine, but two of the products I had orders were "no longer available". This is a problem since all these parts were for a project, and I need all or none of them. It's also frustrating since I just checked their website for the products that were not available, and the product descriptions say nothing of the sort. As I said before, I really like their selection, but don't want to order from them again for fear of not being able to get all my parts 10 days later.

Anyone know where I can buy audiophile grade 2.2uf poly caps and 1000uf electrolytic caps the same place?

Jake, I've always found it best to call them with my order.

Just like to note that PC was closed for approx 4 days as I placed an order about 10 days ago now and had a similar experience.

    Very annoying.

I have also placed an order on Dec. 7th, which I was told shipped on Dec. 13th. I have yet to recieve the parts. They did have all of them in stock, and I got them for 20% off. Because of this thread, I had them shipped via canada post (small packet air mail) which they say takes 7 to 10 days to arrive in the U.S. Obviously it has been a few days longer than that of actual business shipping days (15 days to be exact). I emailed about the package to make sure they actually went out on the 13th and Stephanie sent me an e-mail back replying that it was due to the "sporatic days that the canada post emplyees were working. Other than "Boxing Day" on Dec. 26th the only other day that Canada Post does not ship is on Christmas. So it works out to a total of 15 business days between both the U.S. Postal service and Canada Post. It's still 5 days longer than they say it normally takes.

So, either Canada Post is taking forever to get it here, or Parts Connextion did not really send it out on the 13th of December. Stephanie says it was Canada Post, but I am not sure about this. These are the parts I need to complete my DAC I am building and I have not recieved them yet after a half of a month actual shipping days time. So, you decide if it's due to Parts Connextion not sending them out on the 13th, or Canada Post being so damn slow. If it was Canada post, I would have just shipped them via Fedex, but do to this thread I was trying to avoid outrageous shipping charges.

Not a bad idea Jesse. I emailed Stephanie back with my complaint, so based upon her responce, I may call it in if I can't find some place else to buy my parts.

I just ordered the parts I needed from Madisound. They don't have quite the selection of Partsconnexion, but it's great being able to order things instantly with instant prices including shipping.

They are one of the only sites that carry both audio-grade poly and electrolytic caps. Granted, the electrolytic caps are Bennic, but I still assume that's a good upgrade over stock electronics parts.
