Trying to get back in the speaker game and pretty much starting over now. How should I wire my new CSi A6 center since it has a plate and 4 connectors? Basic instructions would be appreciated. Should I keep the plate and if so how and why? Just got a new receiver and aquiriung all new speakers, starting 5.1 and going to 7.1 hopefully sooner rather than later. All advise is welcome.

    Welcome to CP!

I'm not sure what you mean by plate but as for the binding posts, you'll see a jumper in place between them. If you're running a single amp or 1 channel from your amp/receiver just connect it to either the top or bottom set of terminals.

Some would suggest replacing the jumper with some quality speaker wire or even aftermarket jumpers, the choice is yours really.

If you wish to bi-amp your center, you would run one amp/channel to the top set and the other amp/channel to the bottom set (with the jumper out of place!)

Btw, you're on your way to a nice setup by the looks of your sig ;)

Thanks Kawizx9r, Your right I mean jumpers (my fault) and I wish I knew if I was running a single amp or 1 channel, its whatever the pio vsx-32 is doing. I am assuming ffrom your earlier answer that either the top or bottom terminals work the same, no one is better or will hurt the speaker? Also, how would I bi-amp my current situation, and is it even possible with just my pio? sorry for all the questions and thank you for the help!

If you're using a receiver, then you only have 1-channel of amplification for your center channel (most likely).

Using either the top or bottom posts doesn't really matter and will not hurt the speaker.

Just make sure your binding posts are hand-tightened so that the jumpers are in contact with the posts. Some owners complained about either the mid-bass drivers not working or the tweeter alone only to realize that the jumper wasn't in place or that it wasn't making contact with either set of binding posts.

OK, thanks again. Btw, would you recommend RTiA5's or A7's to go with this center? I am reading conflicting opinions, or would a CSiA4 matched with the RTi's be a better fit? I ask b/c the speakers are different in each center and seem to fit each tower series seperatly?

IIRC, RTi's are slightly different than the RTiA series so I wouldn't bother trying to match them. The appropriate center channels for the RTi series is the CSi3 or CSi5 series speakers.

If you've got a large open area, I'd say go big :p

Keep in mind though, those RTiA's love external amplification (as well as a whole lot of other speakers). Feed them clean, high-current power and you'll surely be pleased whether at low volume or moderate volume listening.

I didn't mean to forget the A in RTiA series, since my center is part of the newer line I was going to try to match them for the timbre effect. I am wondering if I will get enough mids from the RTiA7's vs the 5's? So does clean, high current power mean amp?? I was going to go there but prob not for a year or less hopefully,....... you know budget and wife are restraints.

I figured which is why I mentioned them.

The RTi series is different from the RTiA series.

    RTiA1,3,5,7,9 + CSiA4,6 = matched.

    RTi4,6,8,10,12 + CSi3,5 = matched.

I'd go for the 7's due to the nature of the design (both in speaker/crossover).

I'd expect fuller sound as opposed to the RTiA5, but it's not to say that the 5 is a slouch by any means.

    I understand the budget+WAF, I was there I know :p

In the meantime, just focus on the towers you want and go for it. Since you're not worried about an amp anytime soon you can do plenty of research before getting one.

Just looked at the 5's and 7's, and it made me rethink about what I'd get personally.

The 5's have 2 midbass drivers, while the 7's have 1 midbass driver and 2 woofers.

Would be interested to know how they were crossed, but numbers can only say so much. The best way to determine what would work for you is if you can get your ears on both pairs. I guess I'd factor in what kind of sub I was running and the surrounds to go with the fronts for a better match.

thats the concern I had too, 2 midbass vs one and coupled with the centers I'm going nuts trying to picture the sound. i've got the dsw pro 600 (250 cont watts and 500watts peak) and i cant find anywhere locally to listen to RTiA's either which makes this even harder!

I was under the impression that it was slightly different due to the crossover/enclosure design. I've read posts dating back to when I joined the forum that they aren't perfectly matched but I can't say for sure since I haven't compared them much less owned them.

    Good to know!
