Saw that yesterday, pretty funny. It was no one's fault really, as the drivers had no reason to think that anyone would be driving through there.

Push bar did its job on the Police SUV.

Love how they ran out to cover up all the bits of the car.

Haven't you seen transformers? The movie is one long Chevy car commercial. Seeing the Camaro so easily destroyed may depress sales.

A bunch of my friends have been there for the last couple of nights filming on their i phones. It is pretty impressive, but definitely has sucked for my morning commute. It has added 30 minutes to my commute each way with all of the road closings, etc. That said, I can't wait for the movie!!!!

Pretty much this. I'm sure there are a million little rules that GM puts out about how their vehicles can be portrayed.

Chevy is pretty secretive about the new bodywork that the car was displaying.

I went to see the ZR-1 run at a track before it was producted. VERY secretive about what they were doing.

Couldn't take photo's or tell anybody about what I saw.

Plus it is bad press for the Camaro. Didn't look like it took that hit very well.

    IMHO

I loved Transformer 1, Transformer 2 was naturally not as good. Unless they come up with an engaging storyline, I'll probably be skipping the 3rd.

    FWIW

Some of the cars they run in the movie are not actually the real cars. They make the cars like a prop to Chevy specs but the frame and everything else is usually not the same car.

Atleast that is what the extras from the previous movies specified.

They have different variations "Hero" models for up close shots and more generic props for far away shots. The one destroyed there was a "hero" prop according to TFW2005.com

Again guys, I highly doubt that is a real Camaro. Based on past movies.

And it got SLAMMED by a ~5500 pound vehicle with a brush guard that was going a good 40mph. And it was a glancing blow, so it was more prone to rip things off the Camaro than let it absorb the impact. Yeah, that's a lot of damage that'd be EXPENSIVE to fix. But it doesn't really seem excessive to me.

I dunno, maybe I'm just off my rocker.

Considering they had a cover in the trunk of the car for the car itself, I'd say they were just trying to prevent paparazzi stills of the car. My guess is they would've covered it up if it was in an accident or just parked waiting for the next shot to take place.

this reinforces the fact i ought not re-install limo tint on my front driver/passenger side windows. 1st hint was getting my second ticket for the illegal tint. and before you ask, nope, the 1st ticket was not a 1st hint. i'm just that way.
