It'll be hard to beat the value of the Epik Legend, it gets my vote.

A big subwoofer enclosure/small amp will do more than the reverse.

Give it a shot. I'd be willing to bet you'd get more SPL, and lower HZ's on the legend over the micropro subs.

+1 on The Epik Legend. Chad only builds quality subs and this is his new "baby":) We keep hoping to hear that he'll put out a dualdrive 18" sealed sub called "The ****".

will i be blown away by the difference between my mirage and any of these subs ....i mean my only concern is brand new the mirage is what about $1000.....i only plan on spending $500 dual legends would be insane ......dont have that kind of dough though....i dunno is it even worth upgrading the mirage or should i save my money....also i am willing to go used

The Epik has just begun shipping out this week. It should be interesting to see what people have to say about the new sub.
    HT: RTi8s, CSi3, RTi4s, HSU ULS-15, Pioneer Elite VSX-23TXH, Sunfire Cinema Seven.
2CH: CJ MF2300, Parasound P3, PS Audio DLIII, Wadia 170i, Music Hall Maverick, Sierra-1s, Sunfire HRS8

Stretch and go Epik Empire, dual 15s should rock your HT setup and yes outperform the current Mirage you have in place.
    Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!

Sounds like you already have a micro-pro ruled out but if not just to reinforce the decision... Do NOT buy a micro-pro for lower hrz. You will not be satisfied.

With that said they are still an excellent sub. They are extremely clean. I have a 3000 and I'm looking for something to compliment it and hit lower. I've glanced at a 4000 but theres no way I can even remotely justify the price.

It sucks that polk doesn't offer a ground shaking sub at an affordable price. The Epik's seem like better subs then what polk offers for low frequencies.
    Towers: Monitor 70's

    Rears: Monitor 30's
    Sub: MicroPro 3000
    Receiver: Pioneer VSX-D409
    Screen: Samsung 42" 720p
    All in a 12x12 bedroom...

You have Two M-70s and a 3000 in a 144 sq ft room and it's not enough?

    Gee...I run two Rti-4s and a no name 100 Watt RMS 8" long-excursion sub off an Onkyo 604 in my bedroom (11.5 x 12.5 x 8.5) and I'm good!

    I guess it's a bass thing....?

I think the kit for the 15" one is $570.. the rest is just an MDF box and some polyfill or wool liner. Then you can spend however much you want on veneer / paint to make it nice and spiffy! I'd say $700 total? Depends on the prices in your area. I'm definitely going Rythmik when I get a room for it

e: The general consensus seems to be that the Rythmik goes toe to toe or beats the SVS and JL offerings in the $1500-2000 range in sound quality. The only complaints seem to be less output

Actually, forgot to mention, the Rythmik is specially built for music applications, though it is good for HT it isn't going to be as booming loud. It's more about accuracy, so if home theater is your thing then you might consider a ported subwoofer, which go louder

There are lot's of options out there for diy subs. I built one with a Dayton 15 for right around $400. It would've cost me much more to buy a comparable premade sub. It definitely shakes the house and goes low:D But it also handles music very well.:)
