Hey Everybody!

First time post here, but I had a question. My first real HT consists of a Denon 1910 A/V receiver and Polk RM 95 speakers with an 8" Yamaha sub. My room is 20' X 15' with me sitting about 12' away on the short side. My question is this: I'm starting to get the itch to upgrade, and I was thinking about adding a pair of RTiA5s for my Left and Right channels. Would this match well at all with any of my 95s? If I kept the satellites for my rears, and added a CSiA4 to the system, would this overpower my room? I really love how the RTiA5s sound in the store.

Any advice would be much appreciated! Thanks!

    Welcome to CP!

As for matching your speakers, the most important set to match is your front stage (left/center/right).

The rears aren't too picky but if you want you can upgrade them at a later time, not imperative though ;)

You think I need a different sub? What if I went with a DSW Pro 400 or a PSWi225?

Maybe even something bigger and used if price is a problem. You have a large room to fill the low bass with.

+1 The speakers you are mentionning would be an improvement and yes your present speakers can be used as rear without any issues.

Agreed on the sub, your room is definitely too large for that small yamaha sub.

BTW, I see that Polk recommends the CSiA4 or 6 with the RTiA series. Am I really going to notice anything if I went with a CS10 instead?

    You won't have a timbre-matched front soundstage.

    Stick with timbre-matched speakers, IMO.

Don't know how well you can hear a difference between speakers and such, but I was always able to tell the difference between my front speakers when pairing it with a center channel of a different series I.E. SDA 1C's with a CS350LS. Didn't sound bad, but I heard tonal differences. Matched perfectly when I used the RT1000P towers (same series).

What about my receiver? With the Denon, each channel is individually amplified, but that particular model is only 90 watts/channel. Is that going to power the RTiA5's and a CSiA4 sufficiently?

It does have pre-outs. How much more power would I need?

I'm not very knowledgeable on this stuff, but I read 'pre-amp outputs for multi-zone.' This must not be what I'm thinking it is?
