TSI vs Monitor series sound question

I'm sure this has been asked. My search skills are lacking so I appologize for asking a question that has been gone over before.

How much (if any) sound difference is there between these two series of speakers? Tsi vs Monitor.

Thinking about getting M60 or 70's, or Tsi 400 or 500's. Monitor series is cheaper, so if not that much of a difference I'll save some coin and get those.

Thanks.

The Monitor series was replaced by the TSi series in early 09 I believe. The TSi do sound a little different (I have been told, never heard it but whatever). Save the coin go with the Monitor stuff and drop the extra into a really nice sub.

+1 for the Monitors. Even with my A7s, the Monitor 70s look very attractive for the $$.

I was happy with my Monitor 60's, I know the 70's will sound even better.

You might hear a little difference at the low end since the Monitors have their port on the front and the TSIs have their port on the bottom.

    Go with the Monitors...

I tested my Monitor 70's back to back with the TSi 500's and I PREFER the Monitor series.

The TSi line looks better, but as far as SOUND, the Monitor 70's were a better speaker IMO.

Yes, I gave my set up a lot of thought. Do i want 7.1,6.1,5.1..The 6.1 does it for my size room. I originally bought the polk rm speakers. There was nothing wrong with the rm, after 6 months i replaced with the M . The 505 sub really made the difference.

Thanks for the input guys. Looks like I'll be getting the monitors. 70's up front and probably 40's for the rear.

Sub wise I can get my hands on a Klipsch KSW-12 (cheap), or should I get a Polk sub?.

    Thanks again.

I think you can get whatever sub you like - as long as you think it's big enough for your room. Looks like power-wise it's 105w FTC & 440w dynamic (which tends to be realistic for subs), so look good. If you do want to get a Polk sub, the PSW-505 is another 12" that is a great bang for the buck - usually can be found for ~$250 or less.
