Oh man!! What an awesome night out with my Bro. We went to see Triptykon at the Polaris in Philly--What an insane night!(more on that later I'm too siked right now to get pissed off)---They played 3 or 4 Celtic Frost songs--Awesome!--I met Tom G Warrior (Fischer) of Celtic Frost/Hellhammer (Death Metal Pioneer / Metal God!!), got a couple autographs from him and the Triptykon drummer (Norman Lonhard), got my picture taken with Tom, shook his hand, and just hung out with him for awhile after the concert (until the crackhead came over and started bothering us all)--Simply Awesome!! Oh did I forget to mention the vision of beauty, bassist Vanja Slajh--OMG! A night I won't soon forget (even with my crappy memory ;) )

Sorry so crammed together there I'm beat and hitting the sack.

Did I also forget to mention that I was like 5' from them while they were performing--I mean I was at the stage literally.:D:cool::cool:

The last time I saw Celtic Frost play had to be over 20 years ago, and there was no chance I was getting an autograph back then---the cards were right tonight.

You were truly in the presence of a metal legend. What CF songs did they play? Please tell me it was nothing from Cold Lake haha! I'll guess Circle of the Tyrants, Morbid Tales and maybe Visual Aggression??? Triptykon is a great band and if we can't have Celtic Frost this is definitely the next best thing, and in some cases even better. +1 on Vanja, she's hot.

Old school CF roots--none of that Cold Lake garbage. ;)
Trying to recall - they opened with Procreation of the Wicked (slowed down in tempo from the original), Babylon Fell, The Usurper,
Some from Monotheist (Ground and perhaps Progeny), and of course some new Triptykon selections. It was a well rounded setlist IMHO--I'm trying to find out what it was exactly-I'm sure I misse something.

I'm looking forward to this new iteration, here's a quote from Tom on the new band:
"TRIPTYKON is further pursuing the path I once began with HELLHAMMER and CELTIC FROST, and I am looking forward to continuing to forge this darkest of musical alliances with all of you. We shall all celebrate masses of unleashed heaviness and morbidity."

I haven't been following the latest bands in the scene, but I wasn't familiar with them: (in order of appearance):
NACHTMYSTIUM - I think-based on the albums being sold, as they weren't listed on the list of bands playing that night.
Yakuza - An interesting style--Jazz /Metal fusion of sorts--the lead singer opened with a Sax solo, then also used an Alto sax in there--I liked it, but then they sort of got into a long mellow stoner something or other--It was all good watching it live but it was really dampening the spirit of what an opening band is there to so--get the crowd riled up and what-not.
and 1349 - apparently their latest album was co-produced by Tom Warrior.

Great band, Listen to them at least once per week!. Met Thomas G. Warrior once like 20 years ago!

    ...
Into the Pandemonium is by far one of my favorite metal albums--it's one of those albums CF fans either Love or Hate because of the mix of french horns, kettle drums, strings, french operatic vocals, etc. Of Course I LOVE it. And even though Mexican Radio is certainly a departure genre-wise, I like that cover better than the original.

Not my video but this was recorded at the same show last night.
Add Circle of the Tyrants to the setlist ;)

Disregard audio quality, there is simply no way to record decent audio with the dB's pumping out of the amps and there were quite a few monster subs along the front of the stage--They even blew a head unit on one of the Marshall stacks at one point during the show.

Here's another vid-but this was from the show the night before in Baltimore. Looks like it has a efw songs in that vid. Not so impressive from the audio quality from the vid--definately a 'have to see it live' thing.
There's my honey playing bass in the foreground ;)
