It's not a bad magazine. I have subscribed since the 70s when it was Stereo Review. It is not as in depth as stereophile or the absolute sound, but it fills a middle of the road niche.

Slightly off topic, I am a bit afraid they, like many print publications, are having a problem competing with the free Internet content. Hence, the dirt cheap chance to subscribe. The more subscribers the better chance they have to sell advertising. Personally, I like magazines. Being able to sit back, read it at my leisure, is a pleasure for me, and I will hate to see them go away. Then again, maybe devices like the iPad can become worthwhile replacements for magazines. Time will tell.

I ordered it last year during such a sale. However I'm pretty disappointed at its quality. The reviews are pretty short and generic; there's usually a total of ~ 80 pages with too many pictures & ads; and it's a bi-monthly magazine, so you only receive 6 per year.

It is a monthly magazine, 12 issues a year. To me, the ads are one of the best parts of any audio magazine. I read the ads as much as the articles.

I enjoy my subscription very much. For somewhat of a beginner like myself it has a lot of easy to read and understand articles/advice. I recently started to get stereophile and most of that stuff is way over my head.

Apparently both you and me were wrong. It's 8 issues a year :p I thought it was bimonthly because the last few I received have been for two months each.

I never noticed it went from 12 to 8. The publishing schedule from the October 2010 issue, page 4, is Jan, Feb/Mar, Apr/May, Jun/Jul/Aug, Sept, Oct, Nov, Dec.
