Which one is better in value?
Which one is better in sound?
Which is the better one to get period?

the klipsch you mention was actaully on my audition list when upgrading my speaker system. what do i own now. the rt800i's. i mainly listen to HT about 85%, and music the other 15%. this did have some factor in my decision, because the matching polk center (cs400i) was the best sounding center channel i demoed. other demoed were: infinity, klipsch, mirage & paradigm. the best value for the money is polk. but regarding $ value, i think they are the best sounding out of these 5 speaker companies. at least at their comparative levels. before saying anything else, sound is subjective, so you should get what you think sounds best. demo them both, and whatever your ear likes, is what i would suggest. even if what you like is a little more $$$, your speakers are going to be around longer than any component(usually), so i believe that spending that little extra on what you like to hear is most justified when purchasing speakers. i've already said, i think both sound quality, and value for your dollar goes to polk on the above mentioned speakers. others will disagree. i say, go with what your ears like, that's the best opinion i can give...

Refer to my recent post in the thread "Easy Choice." Those Klipsch speakers that I was describing look to be the older version of these speakers (horn, dual 8" woofers, $800/pair). Terrible-sounding speakers in my opinion. I also have RT800's.

I ended up buying the Klipsch for two reasons:

    1. Bigger Woofers
    2. Better tweeter
    3. They look better

Thats just my opinion...gimme some reasons for buying the rts.

they sound better-especially in the midrange. better tonal quality and transparency. again, that's just my opinion, if you liked the way the klipsch's sounded better, that what you should have purchased. would overall better sound quality be #4 on your list of why you purchased the RF-3's?

I feel obligated to point out that this IS a Polk website so I don't think you are going to find too many folks that will tell you that Klipsch sound better. I also might add that bigger is not always better.

Like Russ said earlier this is a highly subjective hobby. In the end, buy what you like. I just never cared for Klipsch. I have said this before, I have a buddy that has KG-4's and loves 'em. I just never cared for them too much to be honest....

this was a long and a painful time for me to choose the right speaker.I listened to the rf3 and also a set of vega towers cvt12.
Well there is no comparison in my opinion, to my rt800. This was my choice. These were the ones that matched up perfectly with my carver system. very glad and happy. I guess it all depends on your hearing sound . spock ears .....

I've auditioned both sets in a local store, i would have to say i like the polks better.

While the klipsch seem to have a higher frequency response, I do not like the sound of the horn tweeter at all. The softness of the highs with the polk tweeter make them "warmer" to listen to in my opinion, but again that's just my opinion.

Best way is to listen to them side by side, then make a decision for YOU. YOU are going to listen to them, so what one person likes isn't what another person does. If everyone liked the same sound, there wouldn't be too many speaker companies in business...cause everyone would just buy the same setup....:)
