When All is Doom and Gloom

We had a guy out on the floor at work who has been fairly depressed for the last couple of days. Come to find out that his father had passed away and was to be buried on Monday. His father was in Michigan and he is here in Georgia.
He works for the temporary service but has been with us for a number of years, having gotten caught in the current hiring freeze. His pay is barely enough for him, his wife and four kids to make ends meet. Needless to say, he didn't have the money for his family to go to the funeral.
A few folks went around the plant and we collected $500 and gave it to him at the end of the shift. He was speechless and started to cry and smile at the same time.
Hope he gives his Dad a good send off.

Kind hearts count for a lot at the end of this tour.
Well done. -
I hope he still has a job when he returns... I have seen long term temps loose their jobs in situations like this because their attendance falls below standards. Sadly there are few protections for temps today. I wish him and his family well in their time of grief, and God Bless you guys for helping him out.
