I went to Costco yesterday and they have a bunch
of Superbit dvd's for $18.99. I bought the Fifth
element but haven't watched it yet. Has anyone bought
these Superbit dvd's and compared them to the originals?
The sound is dts but is the picture quality any better?
Thanks,
Mike

the better your TV is the better a Superbit dvd will look. on my 12 yr old Zenith, it's tough to tell much of a difference.. but i can see some. Love the DTS soundtrack that is offered with Superbit.

what does the superbit mean? do you need a different player or is it just more information(picture and audio) on the disc?

this is a non technical definition......

higher resolution pic quality because the dvd has be encoded with a higher compression on the part of the movie with some of the extra contents that may be found on regular dvds left out.

    dc. (something like that!):D

Actually it is not higher cmpression, it is higher bit rate that means less compression is used.

less compression.... means a better finer grain picture.. DTS soundtrack is also included in Superbit dvd's. whereby the original movie might have only had a DD track.

on Superbit dvd's the "extras" have been deleted to make room for the extra space on the DVD for the movie and the soundtrack.

on Superbit Deluxe there are two DVD's. one for the movie. the other for the "extras".

Superbit dvd's run a few dollars more than the non superbit dvd movies. Is it worth the extra few bucks? get one and see for yourself how much difference or not you see. I have about three of four superbit dvd's.

I watched the Fifth Element superbit dvd and it is fantastic.
Great dts sound and the picture quality is excellent. I read
some reviews on superbit dvd's and the Fifth element is supposed
to be one of the best. I hope they continue to make more superbit
dvd's. What other ones do you recommend?

The superbit of Virtcal Limit is very nice. They used it at one of the DLP demos at HE2003.
