Sealed record I sold on ebay, wrong one.....??

Need some advice. I sold a sealed album on ebay, seller says the wrong album was inside, here is his note:

"I know your listing says no returns, but there are 2 things that
are not right with the record. First it isn't a shaded dog copy.
That I can deal with. Upon opening the album I found that it is
the wrong record in the worm cover. The record inside is a
Mario Lanza record not a Christmas record. What should I do
about this? "

Some thoughts, nothing was mentioned in my ad about it being a shaded dog copy or not but obviously he was hoping for one. 2nd, what is a "worm cover"? 3rd, not sure how he can say that it wasn't right when the record wasn't a shaded dog, i dont think there are guarantees about that part of record buying, one hopes it is but....4th, why even mention the shaded dog if the record was wrong anyway? almost sounds like an excuse to try and send it back..

anyway, just would like some thoughts...thanks!

Sounds like the buyer is trying to pull a fast one on you. Unfortunately, there is not much you can do because they can file a claim with Ebay and you have almost no recourse. In the end, you will have to pay him back.

That is just another reason why I don't care to sell on Ebay any more.
For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore...

Your buyer is your customer. Suggest you do what he asks and maintain your reputation. Obviously he feels he did not get what he paid for.

    He probably means "worn cover".

By worm cover I think he means inner sleeve. If you sold him a sealed from the factory LP with the wrong LP inside that is not a false listing on your part. However it's not what the buyer was expecting (shaded dog crap aside.... pun intended). If it were me I'd try to see what would make the buyer happy. Keep the Lanza record and I'll refund the purchase price but not the shipping. Return it at buyers expense and refund purchase and shipping. My .02

If your listing didn't mention a shaded dog pressing, I don't understand where the buyer got the idea that it was.

"The record inside is a Mario Lanza record not a Christmas record."

Were you selling a Mario Lanza Christmas Hymns and Carols album, but the actual vinyl inside the cover was a Mario Lanza *fill-in-the-blank* ?

Or were you selling a "Chipmunks Greatest Christmas Carols" album and the buyer received a Mario Lanza record ?

In the first case, the buyer could be seen as having been shorted.
In the second case, the buyer came out ahead, IMO.

In either event, tell the buyer you'll refund the purchase price, but not the shipping and he keeps the album.

How much money are we talking here ? $20 ?

What is the buyers rating like?

That might tell us more about his character.
Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them.

There are cases where the wrong record was inside a sealed album. He may have just wanted a copy of the songs, burned one and now gives it back to you. Unless you depend on the money from the sale to eat next week, I would take it back if he will leave good feedback. Salvage sell it and move on.

The album was an arthur fiedler christmas pops with a LSC number, so thats where he got the idea of the shaded dog.

We are talking about only $10.00, but to me me its the principal of the thing.

He has 409 feedback at 100% positive.

I think i will have him mail me back the cover w/the lanza disc and refund his winning bid...i still don't like it as i still think he was really looking for the shade dog fielder and got mad that it wasn't.

If you take it back, that is a good idea to ask for the LP back as well. Keeps him/her honest just in case. If he was after a specific Fiedler album, and got M. Lanza, I have to say I'd agree with his frustration.

Seems to me that you have at least 20 bucks worth of frustration over a ten dollar item, life is too short for that IMHO. Do what ever suits you I guess regarding the complaint but for me getting a neg isnt worth the 10 bucks.

Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all :D
