TiVo Questions

Hi, I’m looking for some advice on what TiVo or similar I should get to replace my cable box.
I currently have a dvr provided by Cablevision and it is the absolute worst compared to DirecTV. Unfortunately, my new building doesn’t allow satellite dishes.

I’m looking at the TiVo Premiere and the TiVo PremiereXL. I’m really not concerned about the larger HD space but my question is about the THX Certification. Is this worth paying extra for on essentially cable box/dvr given the adjustments I can already make on my tv and avr?

Also will any of the TiVo tuners help the picture quality? I noticed a major difference in the picture sharpness when I had to switch from a DirecTV hd box to the Cablevision hd box.

Thanks

    No fios in your building?

yeah I wish, fios is in my area but not yet on my block. I asked the verizon guy and he didn't have a clue when the block would be wired.

I've had nothing but satisfaction with how my TIVO system works for my family's needs. Either the premiere or the XL will make you forget your cable system dvr quickly. imho

Thanks Chrism, I've been looking at the premiere. It looks like the big difference between the premiere from what I can tell is the hard drive.

After reading your post, I took a closer look at the Tivo Premiere and ended up ordering one to replace a Cox Cable DVR. I've only had it a couple days, but this is a phenomenal upgrade....at the risk of sounding over emotional: LIFE CHANGER. I'd consider this a must-have for those of us who don't have access to Fios.
