Two right Lsi25's or set of Lsi15's. What would you choose?

I have an interesting question. I found a set of two right Lsi25's that are a few hundred bucks cheaper than the refurbished set of Lsi15's I was planning on purchasing from polk direct ebay store. What do you think would sound better? I mean, does the added quality of the 25's make up for the fact that they are both right speakers? I read another thread about a fella that bought 2 left lsi15's and they seemed to work out fine. My only concern is that the sub port will be pointing in the same direction, which may leave 1/2 of my big room less bassy?

I am using a yamaha rxv1900 and adcom GFA7500 amp. The room this will be in is huge, about 30 x 20 feet with 15 foot ceilings. These will mostly be for music, with a few movies here and there.

What attracts me to the 25's over the 15's is not having to purchase an external sub (as the 25's have the powered 10 inch sub, which should handle my bass needs nicely).

Any input?

Thanks alot, you guys have already been a big help with deciding on my amp/receiver.

I prefer non-powered towers, just my 2 cents.

That and you've got to keep in mind that the speakers are mirrored IE the tweeters are slightly off-center so they're both either in the inside or the outside when facing you.

I'd go with the 15's and add an SVS subwoofer :)

Personally since they are specified as right and left I would go with the pair of 15's. But you MUST get a good amp for them to really shine. Based on your comments in your other thread with the amp you discussed getting you will be fine.

I also dislike powered monitors and personally like the LSi 9's over both the 15's and 25's but thats because I have a decent sub which will be getting upgraded to an even better sub in a couple months... :)

I would either do that or go with the 9's and add a SVS subwoofer....

Yep I would always prefer a non powerd speaker because its tricky having to fix a powerd one

So far unanimous. Love the 15's and seriously considered the 25's before I got 'em. Spend the extra scratch on a sub.

    I own 7's, 9's and 15's. Never heard the 25's.

I agree with a few others that the 9's with a good sub might be your best bet. I have my 9's with an SVS Plus/2 in the HT. My 15's are in my 2-channel with no sub. IMO, with a good sub, there really isn't a benefit to getting the 15's over the 9's...unless you just want/prefer floorstanders. Also, don't forget to budget for good stands if you get 9's.

Bottom line: I think you'll be happy with 9's or 15's.

15s here. Although 25s would work well too, they have extra requirements in that you'll have to plug them in.
Do you hear that buzzing noise?

15's,, give them plenty of high current/power---then placement is critical to get the bass dialed in just right---good luck--keep us posted.

Love my 25's mixed with my Klipsch RT-12D sub. Smooth as silk when everything is placed and dialed in right. The Dave Matthews Radio City Blu-ray concert sounds phenomenal.

Other than a built in sub, I doubt if there is any added quality. While I do own 4 LSi15s, I have never heard the 25s, so maybe there is a big difference other than the built-in sub.

15's as I would not go for speakers that are made for a L/R config with two R's as I would think it would cause issues down the road with imaging, soundstaging ect. Also the powered woofers in the 25's aren't the greatest IMO.

If it was my money, I'd buy the 15's. They are marked left and right for a reason. The layout of the drivers is important to the presentation. Since you mentioned mostly music, I think you'd be unhappy with the skewed stage that two right speakers would give you.
