Work tool you can't live without

As much variety as there is here in regards to what we all do for a living, I thought it'd be interesting to see what is the ONE work tool you simply cannot live without.

I'm going to have to vote for my noise cancelling headphones, as I honestly don't know how I'd function effectively without them. My office is wide open, and half the time it sounds like my colleagues are talking into megaphones...And get 3 or 4 of us on the phone at the same time and watch in amazement as everyone gets louder and louder trying to talk over each other. It sounds like a riot here somedays...

God bless you Audio Technica.

I'd put my 24" monitors as a close second.

So what's the one thing you absolutely cannot do without in the workplace?

I think the variety here will be interesting.

Adding magnetic tipped to the front of that part. Cant tell you how many times its saved me from dropping/lossing a really small screw into a computer chassis, or helped me position a screw in a tight spot my fingers wouldnt fit into....

I would add Mountain Dew to the list, though it may not qualify technically, I couldnt do my work without it :).

As far as a tool tool I would say the most important is the compressor/ without it it shuts down everything. it is the heartbeat of the shop..

Work tool... collectively, would be books. I constantly refer to books in my line of work. Without these specific books, i would not be able to function effectively.

There are a lot of job specific tools I couldn't do my job without, but if I had to pick "the" one, it would be a volt/ohm meter.
My equipment sig felt inadequate and deleted itself.

I don't do much hardware anymore. I mostly use a small pocket screwdriver
with a reversable bit(phillips/straight). The pc with a whole lot of adapters
for console ports, Procomm, Pcanywhere, and of course a network sniffer.
I have worked in a machine shop, circuit board level repair, field
mechanical engineer, filed telecom repair. My toolboxes are full of stuff
that seldom see use other than at home.

My laptop, fluke meter & letherman.

Before the big LAYOFF....I worked for an electrical supply distributor. You don't wanna even know what the markup is on Fluke meters. I bought one, at employee cost, for my father-in-law for Christmas one year. I think he like my Greenlee meter better for some reason.

And I forgot about the leatherman! I take mine everywhere I go. Best tool I ever bought.
