Loving some new to me LSI9's

Well I finally pulled the trigger on some 9s thanks to a board member here contacting me about selling his pair. I planned to get a pair of 7's for rear speakers due to their smaller size but when these were offered I figured go big or go bose. Well we all know which of those to choose.

After getting them unboxed from from what I consider the best packing job I have ever seen I couldn't help but hook them up as fronts to see how they compared to the 15s. I am extremely surprised at how well they do. To me they sound the exact same (with just a touch less bass of course). I guess I've never heard a good pair of bookshelf speakers and am blown away by how well they fill the room for such a "small" size. Though they really aren't small at all they are still wonderful.

I guess my only problem now is trying to find some tall enough sturdy stands for them to use as surrounds or make a daring attempt to wall mount them. Any suggestions for this would be fantastic. Or, if someone could figure out a way for me to use 4 front speakers I would also consider that ;)

I use these with my LSi7's for surround. I'm sure they would work with 9's also. A little Blu-tac or velcro on the bottom for an added piece of mind isn't a bad idea. Not sure about there availability though. I bought mine at Crutchfield, but they don't seem to be available there or at Amazon.

I completely agree with your assessment.

^ Thanks for the link. Doing a quick google makes it seem like these exact brackets are still available but under a different name. The only thing throwing me for a loop is that it states they should only be 13 inches deep in which the 9's are about 16 with the plate on the back.

Yeah, those might not work. I just went and looked at mine and the 9's are deeper than I realized. I can test mine out for you, but it might be this weekend before I get a chance.

Great attitude and great exprience Grimmace. I'm a big LSi7 fan but the LSi9 is a helluva loudspeaker. It's very underrated in the hi-fi community.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

The B-Tech's mentioned above work for both 7's and 9's and you can buy them at the accesories store (click on "where to buy" tab at top of page) here at Polk. I use them myself on both sets of speakers.

Thanks for the input everyone. Anyone who uses those B-Tech's, how many holes and anchors do you need to put into the wall for them to support the speakers? I live in an apartment and would prefer not to ruin the walls, but if it's just a few anchors I'm good with that.

    I had LSi7s mounted on the B Tech BT-77 - worked perfectly.

Two screws anchored into a stud are all it takes to mount the BT77 to the wall.

I won't bother testing mine if you know it works. Saved me a little time:p

Also, as mentioned, 2 screws into a stud is how mine are mounted.
