Have any of you ever shipped speakers, with a total weight range between 300 and 400 pounds?

If yes, what shipping company did you use?

Thanks in advance,

Yellow Freight has a good reputation for heavy freight.

Don't forget to wire the + to the - to reduce driver motion during shipping. Any little jumper wire made from a few inches of ~16 gauge speaker wire should be fine.

Yellow Freight is excellent. Or North American if you are in the northeast.

I've never heard of this before.

Is the idea that any magnet movement is negated by a charge it is causing like some sort of feedback loop?
    Sounds good to me...

I work in the Freight business as a Shipping Manager. A couple of things to keep in mind:
    - Ship to and from a business if possible. Residential can cost a good bit extra. Also, that way you won't need a lift gate which is usually extra money.
    - Over-pack and protect your product to the best of your ability. Use a crate if possible. Many times you can find spare crates that businesses are throwing away and they will kindly give one to you.

If you need any help PM me and hope all goes well for you.

I was contemplating using a freight company for my srt speakers I bought. In the end, I'm too wary. I'm going to take a little vacation time to make a trip, haul them back to L.A., and do some sight seeing along the way :)

I forgot about these guys, Craters and Freighters. They will crate and ship them anywhere. I've only heard great things about them.

Yeah, more or less. The magnets and windings are nothing more than multiple electrical generators when the speaker cones bounce around during shipping. If the + and - are connected, the electrical force tends to oppose the cone motion.

I'm trying to remember where I heard about this...

I've used Forward Air with good results.
    SRT For Life; SDA Forever!

    The SRT SEISMIC System:
Four main satellite speakers, six powered subs, two dedicated for LFE channel, two center speakers for over/under screen placement and three Control Centers. Amaze your friends, terrorize your neighbors, seize the audio bragging rights for your state. Go ahead, buy it; you only go around once.

If this is true that is pretty cool. Hey I'm a poet and didn't know it.

Just an FYI, there really is no need to reduce driver movement during shipping.
