Best Wireless Keyboard/Mouse Combo?

After 4 years, both my Logitech keyboard and Microsoft wireless mouse are not working properly. The keyboard takes a lot of pressure to get it to type (frustrating as I have to re-send emails/posts/etc.) and the Microsoft mouse registers a click but doesn't release so you are dragging every icon on the screen. If you are typing, it will ruin your document as a tiny movement of the mouse will make it drag whatever it's pointing at currently.

I'm looking for a good combo that will last a long time and is wireless. I currently have the Logitech wireless keyboard and Microsoft mouse plugged into two USB ports; a single receiver with BOTH mouse and keyboard together would be highly desired.

Some people tell me that their wireless mouses eat batteries - those are the ones that I would like to avoid. The Microsoft mouse can go 3-4 months on a single set of AA's, and the Logitech keyboard is good for up to one year or more. Also something with media keys would be nice, as I do video editing and content creation often.

I'd stick with Logitech since I've owned a wide variety of their wireless keyboards (both IR and bluetooth) and they've always lasted. I'd give them away when I felt like I wanted to upgrade but lately I've been using an HP wireless Elite keyboard that I'm very happy with. It's available as both a mouse+keyboard combo or just keyboard so that's a plus. It's a low-profile/soft touch keyboard that's splash resistant. Cost me $40 bucks at Fry's :)

Edit: Also, it'll help us better recommend you a keyboard/mouse if you're looking for anything specific such as right-hand only mouse, soft touch keys, wedge-type keyboard/etc as well as a budget.

I love my biometric. It saves on all of the passwords- just swipe my finger instead of entering passwords. In fact- to login to this site I had to swipe my finger. The mouse is wireless- the keyboard is not however. This one is from Microsoft so works best if you use Explorer mostly but there are competing versions worth a look I am sure.

Logitech. The best consumer keyboards and mice. I think I completely got rid of everything non-Logitech at home, lol. Using wired G9 and wireless MX5500 mice now.

Forgot to add, I'm currently using a G5 mouse (many years old but awesome) but before that I was using the MX Revolution for years since it's release. Awesome mouse!

This is what I recently purchased to replace my old Microsoft wireless combo and it works well. I have this in my living room connected to the PC we have in there and I can surf the internet from the couch about 10 ft away. I just recommend getting it from amazon or ebay, it is much cheaper. Oh, and as far as I can tell it doesn't eat batteries.

Thanks, but I decided to get a Wired keyboard/mouse combo and already like it much better!

I always hated being in the middle of a paper and having the batteries die, requiring me to take the batteries out and put them in a AA Charger. And with my old set, the range was limited. Not sure about the new models.

Will check out a wireless keyboard/mouse combo later on, but right now it seems like wired is where it's at.

It's a bit harder to find since it got replaced by the Performance Mouse MX, but my favorite mouse that I have ever used is the Logitech MX Revolution. I got it for $40 at Best Buy a little over a year ago; I don't know if they ever sold it in conjunction with a keyboard, though... nor do I think you would be able to find it anymore if they had.

Now look at this mouse. Now back at yours. Sadly this mouse is not your mouse. But it could be for the paltry sum of $130. Look down. Now up. Where are you? You're in your chair. With your mouse. Now wouldn't you rather have this mouse?

Microsoft is such crap. Only their names are on those products. they don't build that stuff.

I don't care who builds it, I just want it to work and it does. If I was a big time gamer or someone on my computer at home all the time and needed all the additional features the mouse and keyboard you suggested, then maybe I could justify it. I just need a $50 mouse keyboard combo to fill my needs. The same way I can justify using basic BlueJeans cables to wire up my speakers, because spending $800 on my system would be a waste of money.

Just out of curiousity, what kind of connection is that in the background of the first pic of your mouse pad where it looks like there are about 8 monitors plugged in?

I'm just going to guess and say it is either a VGA signal duplicator, which would send the same signal to multiple monitors, or it is a VGA signal switcher, which would only send the signal to selected monitors. Either way, that looks like a ton of different monitors...

I don't understand half of what you just said, so guess I have some more research to do! I can't imagine having to keep up with 3 different mouses and that many different screens in order to get my job done, but I know for your line of work it is just how you operate day in and day out.

I'm with edbert here. I peaked at having two sets of keyboards and mice plus a laptop to keep track of. And even then I had trouble picking the right one when I went to type without looking.

Edit: Lasareath, are you saying the Cyborg mouse is awkward or the MX Revolution is?

I honestly don't get what the point of those mice are?

I'm just a casual user - I don't game or anything like that, so I feel like I wouldn't know the difference. As long as it can point and click, I'm golden :)
