Rush MSFL Gold CD's

I recently bought the MSFL copy of Rush's Permanent Waves album and absolutely love the sound quality and dynamics. I understand that three other Rush albums were released by MSFL: Moving Pictures, Signals and
2112. I've seen them for sale on eBay but the prices seem pretty crazy to me. Does anyone on here know a good place for me to look for these MSFL releases where the prices might be a little more available to mere mortals? I'm a Rush fanatic, a self professed lunatic for the band so I would kill to have these other albums on MSFL gold.

I've got Permanent Waves from MFSL and it sounds ok, but Moving Pictures remastered sounds really good and I thought the reverse would be true, but not my experience.

Keiko,
Where did you get the 20 bit remaster of 2112? Was it part of the Rush remasters from 1997?Music and Movie Rig

I bought the standard, 'remastered' Hemisphere's album. I was pretty disappointed.I refuse to argue with idiots, because people can't tell the DIFFERENCE!

I'm surprised by the comment about the Hemispheres remasters. I have it as well and it blows away the original release. I also bought the new SHM-CD of Hemispheres as well and while it was better than the remaster it was only slightly so. I have the original Moving Pictures release and it's a dynamic mix but I have to really crank it to hear anything. I'll probably go and pick up the 97 remaster and compare though I'd love to have the Mofi remaster. I have the mofi Permanent Waves CD and it rocks!Music and Movie Rig

You're going to love the MOFI Permanent Waves. I'll be anxious to hear your thoughts on it. For me, it was like listening to the vinyl for the first time back in 1980. And you're absolutely going love the Blu-Ray Snakes and Arrows. The video is absolutely stunning and the audio blows away any live video has released so far. I also have Rush in Rio and R30 and both of those are great, but the audio in particular is lacking on both of those...enjoy!
This thread has gotten me doing an A/B comparision of Hemispheres right now between my 1997 remaster and the new SHM-CD. I'm beginning to think the SHM version blows it away. It really seems a lot warmer and upfront than the remaster, without excessive compression, which I think is the 1997 versions greatest flaw, though I love my 2112 remaster.Music and Movie Rig

OK...I compared the one on the link you posted and my version is different. It says "The Rush Remasters on the front left side of the case. Strange. What year did your CD come out? Is it also 1997?Music and Movie Rig

OK I googled MSFL. I am assuming your not talking about the Maned Space Flight, Medical Students for Life.
I only saw two links that were associated with CD's and this was one of them.
Can I get a .50 defintion. -

Just an aside, but i just bought the SHM-CD version of Moving Pictures on Amazon and I've read several reviews that have said it's superior to the MSFL version. I'm anxious to get and give it a spin. The SHM-CD of Hemishperes that I have blows away the 1997 remaster. I picked up the 1997 remasters of Moving Pictures, Caress of Steel and Signals at BB yesterday and am looking forward to listening and comparing them to my original CD releases. The Caress of Steel remaster had the same info that Keiko described about it being a 20 bit remaster from the original recording. I'll be playing that one first this evening.Music and Movie Rig

When you say MSFL do you mean MFSL? As in Mofi?-Kevin

I did an A/B comparison tonight on the 3 Rush remasters I picked up today with my original CD's. All three, Moving Pictures, Signals and Caress of Steel were superior in sound quality. No contest. Of course they were louder, but the detail, bottom end and soundstage were just awesome! I dont even want to keep my original CD's!Music and Movie Rig

That's good to know. How do those remasters compare to the Mofi equivalents?
-
I cant say. I only have the MOFI Permanent Waves. All I can say is that it blew away my original PW master. I would kill to have all of the MOFI Rush releases (Moving Pictures, Signals, 2112 and Permanent Waves) but man, they are pricey! I will keep looking for them on other auction sites, especially 2112. I should add that out of all of the remasters that I compared tonight, the most improvement from my perspective was Signals. I had only ever heard my original release and it always seemed tired and muddled to me. The remaster is so clear and lively it was a real revelation.Music and Movie Rig

Yep, thats the same 2112 remaster I have. The 20 bit comment is on the sticker on the wrapping that I took off.

Just won the MFSL of "Signals" on eBay for about $40. Since this is one of my favorite albums and it's in mint condition, I consider this a good deal. Now, all I really want is the MSFL copy of 2112!Music and Movie Rig
