Just picked this up for free.
No idea if the motor is good yet... just got it home and washed it up. Put some 2cycle oil in the cylinders and am letting it sit until tomorrow before I try to crank it.
One thing I'm having issues figuring out is the water cooling. Typically, they have a hose bib somewhere to be able to screw a water line into so you can run it out of the water. Can't find one on this... actually don't really see any sizeable lines at all. There is one that runs into the water jacket, but it doesn't look anywhere near big enough to be the main cooling line.
Any thoughts?

" You can run them for a few minutes without water. You can plumb in a water hose fitting to the hose coming form the top of the head. If you turn on the hose and dont crank the motor, yes you will eventually full the cylinders with water. Try to get it running and then turn on the water."

That is dependent on the motor, and if its a 90* or not.
You can TAP the starter for the first few initial turn-overs. If you just start cranking it, you risk breaking a rod.

Looks like you need to make sure the cylinders don't have water in them, then crank it over, then turn on the water.
I'll be available for answers all this week during my lunch breaks (filling in on a midnight shift for a co-worker).

Thanks for the info, MrBigBlueLight. The ski has been sitting for 10 years, but I had a peek into the cylinders before I put the oil in, and everything looks ok from the top. Interesting that the cooling system would fill the cylinders with water... I guess it's because of the pressure from the hose.
Also, I'm going to pull the plugs before cranking it the first time, just to eliminate compression altogether. I'll let it sling the oil around that I put in there, then put the plugs in, add fuel, and see what happens.Ludicrous gibs!
