Carver AV-806x questions

I just bought one of these off of ebay. I wanted to get more out of my 7.1 set up mainly for movies and video games. I was powering the system with a Denon 2808ci reciever rated at 110 watts per channel. The 806x is rated at 133 watts per channel. Should I be able to tell a differance in sound between the two? (I can't) I tried to bridge two channels for the mains (360 watts per) and I still could not tell the differance. Does any one out there have the same amp? I do not have the manual as it did not come with one. I was wondering if someone would make me a copy of theres and email it to me. I would be willing to pay for it. Any comments would be welcomed.

calgoose - I've been looking at this amp too. Can you bridge the other two channels also so you have three pairs of bridged channels at 366w?

Yes you can have 3 channels bridged @ 360w. Side note: I see you have a svs pb12 plus/2 as do I. What an awesome sub!

Register on this site, they should have a manual:

What type of sound difference are you looking for and what mode are you running the Carver amp in?

Going from 110 to 133, you will not get any more volume out of the amp. It takes 10x the power to double the volume.

What I would think you should get is a clearer sound with more full range from the Carver over your Denon.

I am not sure how they determin the power rating on the Denon, some do 2 channel driven some do 5, but the Carver is 6 channels driven 20-20,000 hz 135 watts.

If you bridge the amp you should be able to get some more db out of your speakers. I have not owned on of these but I have heard the AV-705 and it is a nice sounding amp.

Good luck and keep us posted on what you find.

I would like to thank all of you who have responded to my question. Now having a couple of weeks to play around with the amp I can say I do notice a differance in the sound quality. I was playing Halo Reach the other day and was in shock at the clarity of the sound effects. I notice the highs are much more deffined. I can't really tell the lows too much but that is probrably because of my svs sub. (I like bass!) Really happy with the carver.
