Hey there, just installed these in the front doors of a honda civic coupe last week. Also installed a set of mm651 for the rear. I'm a little disappointed as the mids/bass of the 6501's doesn't sound nearly as good as the 651's. Is there something i can do to fix this? Currently the speakers are hooked up to an Alpine unit with no amp. I am about to hook up a fosgate p400-4, will there be a significant improvement?

the amp will make a huuuuge difference in that department . But remember to maximize performance, you must deaden the hell out of those doors !! (stuff like dynamat and secondskin damplifier, etc)

yea i figured, but the difference between the two sets of speakers is still big, just want to make sure its not like that after connecting to the same amp
Will be dynamatting the doors after I get everything installed. -
It can be pretty easy depending on what type of stuff you play.
playing it well is another story and if you want to hear GOOD bass stuff, listen to a jazz band with one or Rush. -
No, I havent' messed with the LPF settings on the HU. Though, do I have to? The back speakers are thumpin, but I'll give it a try today, thanks

+1 to the LPF and amp suggestions.
Keep in mind though since the 2 sets of speakers are in entirely different locations, that will also affect the way they sound.Truck setup

Yup, you need power for good sub bass response. Once you get an amp, youll notice a HUGE difference.polkaudio sound quality competitor since 2005
