Guy on Craigslist has these for $100, any idea what model they are? Just curious before I consider taking a look and he doesn't seem to know.

Gold colored Polk Audio emblem is a later model. Probably SDA 2B's or 1C's. At $100 it's a no brainer. If I had to guess based on the photo and proportions in the photo I'd say SDA 2B's.

Based on the height to width ratio (in the picture) I bet they are 2Bs
-
The ad is definitely for the polks, still waiting for the seller to contact me so I can snatch em
-
Finally heard back from the seller and just took a quick look at them. They look like they are in perfect condition but we had no way to test them out. I have a Denon 1910, any chance I can power em for a few minutes on that to get a sound check? Seller raised his price to $175 when he realized what he had.
-
That's a 7.1 with 90 wpc and a left and right channel would certainly be OK to power then up. Just don't go crazy and drive the to amp a distortion/clipping level. 2B's are very efficient with just 1 tweeter and 2 6.5's mid-woofers per cabinet. You do need to find out if the Denon is COMMON GROUND.
Do you know if the seller has the interconnect connected between cabinets?
The reason I ask is that Polk SDA series speakers require a COMMON GROUND amp if the interconnect is connected and I don't know if your Denon is common ground. You can always use a non-common ground amp to test without the interconnect connected, but then only the tweeters and inner speakers are in play, so you would not know for sure if the outer 6.5's are working.
A test you should perform with the cabinet grilles off (and no power to the speakers) is to gently push in the 12" passive radiator in with your (clean and dry) thumb and 4 fingertips spread in a circular pattern and hold it in for 3 to 5 seconds. As you are pushing in, watch the 2 6.5" mid-woofers expand outwards. Keeping the passive radiator gently pushed in, They should stay out for a moment and then recede back into the cabinet taking a few seconds. Then, gently pushing in and immediately releasing the passive 2 or 3 times, you should be able to see the mid-woofers travel in and out
Assuming great cosmetic condition, all drivers are working well and the interconnect cable is there, $175 is still not too bad. Buying, (or better yet building a higher quality version) interconnect is about a $35 bill.
Maybe he will accept $150?VTL ST50 w/mods / RCA6L6GC / TlfnknECC801S

He didn't have the interconnect cable -
ran out of time
. . . Then, gently pushing in and immediately releasing the passive 2 or 3 times, you should be able to see the mid-woofers travel in and out without hearing any scratchy noises. Noise indicates the voice coil was over-driven at some point or the magnet on back of the driver has come loose and shifted. New drivers (if available) are $48 direct from Polk and a few dollars less on the used market.VTL ST50 w/mods / RCA6L6GC / TlfnknECC801S

So you are really looking at $210 by the time you buy/make a cable, but it does give you a bargaining point and you are fine to use your amp because the interconnect is not in play and you don't know if the outer drivers work. Raising his price with no way to show they work was probably not the smartest move on the seller's part.
You will not know if the outer drivers work other than watching them push in and out with no noise which is a start.
There is a way to just use regular lamp cord, etc. just twisting the ends and inserting them into the interconnect sockets, but you need to know what you are doing there and whether your amp is common ground or not comes into play again.
I've owned and loved my 2B's since 1987 when I paid a ton for them and I have put about $400 in mods since and enjoy them nearly every day when I'm not listening to other Polk's in the house. $150 should be a good number in today's market.VTL ST50 w/mods / RCA6L6GC / TlfnknECC801S

Offer him $150 and tell him he's a dick for listing it at one price and then raising it when you came to look at them. $150 is still a very good deal if they are in great shape and work properly.

A guy here had a listing on CL for different brands but no specific models of what he had. I spoke to him on the phone and he mentioned that he had some Polks that he would take $50 for. At the time, I had no idea of what SDA was. Anyway, I drove about an hour through highway construction and another half hour through the sticks and winding mountain like roads. His address wouldn't even show up on GPS and he had to walk out to the main road to flag me down. Anyway, I get down to his basement and started looking at some KLH monsters(old cheap crap with 15" woofers) that I wanted for garage use. I kinda looked up the Polks before I left the house so I had a little bit of an idea that they were "decent". Immediately he tells me that he had to have $100 for the Polks because he looked it up on the internet and saw that they were going for that(I don't know where he looked, but even $100 is cheap).
I gave him a rash of crap letting him know it was bullshart that I drove that far and he didn't even call me and waited until I got there to change his mind. He realized he had f-ed up and said, "Well, I guess I can let them go for $50." I got them home and realized they were SDA-2A's-for $50-a bargain to be sure. Long story short, if another pair pops up for $100, don't think about it-just go get them.
BTW, for a total of $115, I got the Polks, a pair of pristine pair of Utah HS5-A's, a set of Realistic Super Tweeters, a Marantz 2230 and a Pioneer SG-9800 that needs some work. -
Unfortunately,it seems that you see a lot of that raising the price bs on CL, good luck to you.

It's called Sarcasm!
Obvioulsy sarcasm and I understand where you're coming from.
I've had a couple of jerks on CL do that to me and I just want to take a big dump on the driver's seat of their car and Superglue their door locks!
BTW, Sarcasm again. LOL! -
