Lol, you should've seen the look on the Comcast guy's face when he dropped off my box and modem while living in Chicago. He thought my Magnepans were pieces of art rather than speakers. I guess I can understand where it'd come from, he's probably seen a million htib's+

That the general population owns an HTiB and such, and most likely don't have the addictive personalities that we do for this hobby. Just an assumption of course though the reasons could be lack of funds or simply because they haven't heard better.

Not sure what to say about the tv's/game systems though. I just don't watch TV enough to have a high-end tv, but it's not like I don't have LCD tv's/monitors anyway :)

I think people just think they are gona have the cinema sound because the stores talk them into buying them

For the price most paid you could buy a great used setup

A guy that I work with was telling me during a movie, his sub was playing loud enough to make waves in his bathtub. I asked him what he had, and he said.... " it's a system that I paid $349 for at CC".

Ok. There was no point after that in talking about what I have.
My equipment sig felt inadequate and deleted itself.

Whats so surprising about it ? Who would shell out for big floor standers and huge amps in an apartment where if you cough too loud, the management gets a call. Big screens too are usually not cozy with the small living area of an apartment, generally speaking of coarse, all apartments aren't created equal.

I have full 5.2 setup in my condo. Thankfully, it was well built, so it's pretty much insulated for sound propagation, except for the door.
