Surround Sound on SACD

If I wanted to listen to a SACD in 5.1 do I set my AVR to 5ch stero or on another mode? I know I know NOOB question.

    You will have to either:

    A) Use your analog Multi-Ch inputs

    or

    B) have a receiver capable of decoding DSD bitstream, choosing the 5.1 layer of the disc will switch the receiver into the proper mode I believe.

    or

    C) send multi-ch PCM to your pre/pro and choose "direct" or "multi-ch PCM" or whatever.

    I have it connected by analog cables and the screen reads DSD (not sure what that means).

    So you have 6 analog IC's from your player to your receiver?

    If so, choose the multi-ch analog input on your receiver and make sure you have selected the 5.1 layer of your SACD with the player. Voila'!
