He had them listed for 450 at one point as well....so someone should try to see if he still will sell them for that price....

He had them at $800 initially and came down to $600.
CincyCat tried to bargain with him on the $600 price and couldn't get them bought IF I UNDERSTAND CORRECTLY. You'll have to talk to CincyCat for exact details..

That guy is impossible. I tried to buy them at one point also. A LONG time ago. He's like talking to a brick wall. I would stay away. I swear he just puts the ad up to mess with people and waste there time. At least thats how he acted when I contacted him. Told him I had the cash and wanted to come pick them up. Then he said he didn't know if he even wanted to sell them?? WHY DID YOU LIST THEM THEN??? AND WHY ARE YOU WASTING PEOPLE'S TIME??? The guy was aggravating. The way he talked and acted. I always wondered if really even had them...

Anywho. Thats my $0.02. I'm done here. Good luck to who ever dares to try to deal with this guy...

I was all for the guy standing firm on his price until I read this. Sounds like a real pain in the ****! I have dealt with similar sellers before and it is always a nightmare. Good luck to whomever is after those 1C's, I hope he takes his meds the day you call.

He had a set of SDA-SRS a while back and had the same impression. He was a member here but for the life of me, I cannot remember the guys name. Dave sticks in my head for some reason.

I have been waiting for him to drop that price a little more, but after reading this thread, it sounds doubtful if he will. It seems like those have been on CL off and on for several months now.

He emailed me when CincyCat was interested in them. To paraphrase..."I don't need the money and I'm not coming down on the price.
IF we're being honest about it...It's a good price on nice speakers with RDOs, caps, posts, and dampening drivers, spikes, etc.
I'm not pushing them but I think IF someone is looking for 1cs it's an excellent deal for "plug and play"
We all want to buy gear for nothing and sometimes "cheap" ain't gonna get the job done.

I think the guy is standing on a chair or something. I makes them look real strange and thin. Maybe he shrunk the pic wrong?

From reading this post I would steer clear of this guy.

I've dealt with his type before. He's waiting to get multiple people interested to suck them into a bidding war over them. Not gonna happen @ his asking price. It's already top dollar.

Don't know about the seller, but agree with these comments. You will probably end paying more if you get a stock pair and then do all the mods.

Out of that $1000 how much are upgrades? I'm willing to bet around the asking price of these speakers.

I talked to the seller a month ago and he seemed like an ok guy.

I did too. I thought he seemed like a stand up guy, honest about condition and spoke very highly of some certain members here who helped him out when upgrading these....like Larry and others.

I couldn't justify driving all the way from Florida to pick them up, and he was afraid to ship them (me too). So I passed, but thankfully got Conradicles!!!

I bought some new Klipsch Cornwalls in '76 and my wife hated them. I told her I'd put them up for sale. LOL!
I put them up for sale but I never sold them. I didn't let her know I could have sold them a dozen times over. I just didn't want to see them go so I tried to appease her by saying I'd sell them.
Nice 1C SDAs with all the mods would be hard to cut loose of. EVEN FOR ME and my room won't let me use SDAs.

Well I payed $250 for the speakers, and they were in mint condition original boxs and all. I just wanted the darker wood caps. But they did not need them at all so I made some new ones out of oak..

I think you nailed it, Harry. Couldn't he appease her with a shrubbery instead of an irritating CL ad?

    Ok,
Dave just emailed me on these and he'll come down to $500 on the price.
The CL ad expired but I think there's enough info on these here to refresh your memory.
Basically it's a fully modded/upgraded pair of 1C SDA in very nice shape.

I had these speakers originally listed at 800.00 on CL. I didn’t budge on price for about a month and after not receiving any offers I dropped the price down to 600.00 (I never had them at 450.00). Still no offers. A LOT of people wanted to call me and chat about them. What were the mods, where did I live, why would I use spikes, what was the dynamat for, etc... and honestly a lot of people just wanted to talk. No serious buyers. Don’t get me wrong . I don't mind talking about speakers and I'm grateful that a lot of people took the time to talk to me to help me with these speakers. Everyone contributed in some way from the posts but many people helped me directly. George, you took the time to take your 1c's apart for me and walk me through the wiring to make sure I had them wired correctly. I spent many nights talking to Ben about the correct modifications for the crossovers. I got advice from Jessie on the wood and Ray on the reclothing. but I own a business and it's hard to take time to respond to people who just want to chit-chat and a little frustrating that I didn't have anyone serious.

Nik, if you offered my asking price at what I had them in the ad for you would own them. If you low balled my asking price I probably turned you down. I don't need the money, I need the space. I specifically do not want to get anyone in a bidding war I just want them to go to someone who wants them.

I'm not a professional photographer so if the pictures look funny maybe I need to take different pics. I don't know, I'm at a loss on that one.

I'll admit I'm attached to them. I did a lot of work on them and I was standing firm on 800.00 for awhile. I don't WANT to sell them but I do NEED to sell them. I simply need the space. They were not selling for 800.00 and again at 600.00 so now I have them at 500.00. That's about the price of the upgrades I have in them.

If I wanted to keep them they would not be at 500.00 and if I need the attention I'll go buy some cats.

I'm not linking the ad in here but they are still out there, at 500.00. Just search for sda...

My apologies for that then and thanks for the correction. I thought I saw them at 450 (but it might not have been your pair). I have been looking at lots of SDA's on different craiglist sites here lately (but due to medical concerns this year and next) have no spending money to potentially buy.

    Good luck with the sale!
