I found a NAD 2200 amplifier for sale locally. I have never owned any NAD gear, but always have heard good things about them. So calling all NAD experts, how does the 2200 stand in its line up? Is it a sought after amp? I read that its 100wpc, but performs like a more powerful amp. Has anyone here owned this amp, or had any experience with it? What are its specific strengths/weaknesses? I am just looking for a little info before I make an offer. So I also am interested in finding the original price and what a good used value would be. It is supposed to be in good working condition. Cosmetically, it looks just fine. So any info you can provide would be appreciated.

I would give around 150.00 or so for it. The 2200 comes from the Power Envelope series. NAD was one of the first and best company to bring quality ss power for little cost. They utilize a soft clip circuit along with energy storage for transients peaks which is very nice, the amplifiers tend to be on the warm side of nuetral and best of all is the BIG GREEN power button. Its a proven performer, the next step up was the 2600 which had 150 watts per channel rating but they are very similar.

great sounding amp especially for the $.Klipsch The Nines, Audioquest Thunderbird Interconnect, Innuos Zen MK3 W4S recovery, Revolution Audio Labs USB & Ethernet, Border Patrol SE-I, Audioquest Niagara 5000 & Thunder, Cullen Crossover II PC's.

Good amps for the money, but many of them are starting to show their age. NADs of this age are prone to capacitor failure, relay problems, and cold solder joints. Usually these are easy fixes for someone who knows how to read a schematic and use a soldering iron, but if not, you may end up with problems. If you can listen to the amp, look out for buzz/hums, static, or differences in channel levels.
I have an NAD 7175PE that gets daily use in my Desktop/Computer rig. Working fine so far, but it occasionally comes through with the left channel being louder than the right. I suspect the relays. For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore... -
The seller lives quite a distance from me and we were going to meet halfway. So I dont have a way to listen to it first. I would basically just be taking his word that it works. Does everyone think that 150 is a decent price if its in good working condition? Or do you think its worth more or less?

I wouldn't buy without listening. Price? Check completed Ebay auctions and take away 20-30% for a fair local Craigslist deal. That's just my opinion though.
Ok, I just checked. Ebay prices fluctuate from about $150 to $230 shipped. More are towards the lower end. One sold for $300, but that is probably an anomaly.
For a local deal, without hearing, I would not pay more than $80. If you can hear it and everything is good, maybe $120. If he has a problem with that, tell him, to sell it on Ebay and let them suck him for 12% fees and risk it selling for only $112 like this one:

I am not sure about 2200 prices, but I paid 250 for a mint 2600 off Audiogon about a month ago. -
Nice amp for the dollar. Neutral sound bordering on warm. Plenty of power. Also bridgeable.
I wouldn't pay anything over $150.00.... But thats just me..

I will try to get it for under 100, but I am more interested in the current resale values. In case it isnt something I would like to keep, at least I know what I can get for it. Since I am buying it without hearing it. If its not working, I will just eat the loss. If its working and I like it, then I will for sure keep it. But if for some reason I dont, and its in good condition, then I will pass it on. It seems like people like this model.

I like it's cousins a lot and the 2200 is very similar in build.
I've had both my 7600 Receiver (which incorporates the 2600) and my 2600A amp modded by Wayne at In House Stereo Repair within the past year. And not because they needed it, but because they are quality built and adding 2010 components will make them sing for another 2 decades for about 7 times less than a new comparable amp.
You could watch this nice 2600A with rack handles as a barometer: http://cgi.ebay.com/NAD-2600A-STEREO-MONO-AMPLIFIER-AMP-W-RACK-EARS-/290477623343?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item43a1d0c82f (no affiliation) and this 2200 to see where the bids are http://cgi.ebay.com/NAD-2200-STEREO-POWER-AMPLIFIER-SOUNDS-GREAT-/140456057024?pt=Vintage_Electronics_R2&hash=item20b3d558c0 (no affiliation)VTL ST50 w/mods / RCA6L6GC / TlfnknECC801S
