I've decided on a yamaha 1065 receiver because they are half off on amazon right now. As far as speakers go let me know what you guys think of this set up....Monitor 50 fronts, CS1 center, my old psw110 and my old RM8's as the surrounds. now on amazon they have the CSi3 cheaper then the CS1...which is the better speaker?

CSi3 is the better speaker, but it wont match the Monitors as well as the CS1.

    Welcome to Club Polk gnarlycore,

Your proposed setup sounds soild. The CSi3 is the better center between the two that you listed, but it wont blend very well with Monitor 50's. Its from the RTi line of speakers which have a much more detailed tweeter and are much better for home theater use.
If you're set on the Monitor 50's, I would start looking for a CS2 or a CS20. These would be far superior to the CS1 and would blend well across the front sound stage.
One last option would be to pick up the CSi3 (or even better a CSi5) and keep an eye out for RTi8's, which are fantastic HT speakers. Most importantly, have fun with it and good luck,

It's totally worth it. The center is the workhorse of your HT, playing most of the movie soundtrack. The CS20 is a great center and is much better looking than the CS1/CS2 IMHO.

Once the audio bug bites, that $830 will seem VERY reasonable...

I spend FAR too much time looking at more ways to blow money on audio.

Now that I have my RTi A7's, I have a strong desire to swap to seperate amplification for them... My wife has a strong desire to kill me...

Upstatemax - I gave into that desire with my RTi A7s - but I'm single so the voice of reason was the same voice communicating my credit card # on the phone :)

LOL! I love it, We all have the same "illness", this site is like a support group, haha!

I have to say, I am VERY pleased with my decision to spend a bit more up front, and go with the upper model Monitor series speakers off the bat. I just wish I had done the same with the receiver...

Life would be alot simpler if we took out a mortgage right away and spent double what we thought we should on our habit. That would have saved me serious cash along the way... I started with seperates long ago, consolidated, and now may go back to seperates........

Sonically, yes. They are virtually the same speaker in a new enclosure. If you want everything to match visually, get the 70's and a CS2 instead of the CS20.
