I got an itch to try out an amp on my lil outfit.Due to limited space I'm kinda leaning towards a mk545ii or something similar. Will I benefit from this with my set up or am I just better off holding out for a 5500 or something else along those lines?
Thanks,
Rhett

Given your setup, I'd roll with what you have until you can get the amp you truly want.

I'd do a search on those powering their monitors with an external amp that had them hooked up to an AVR before-hand and read up on their comments.

I've always heard a significant difference when hooking up a pair of speakers to a very capable and high-current amp, but the Monitor line of speakers are very efficient and most owners would say an AVR will suffice.

Do you have a friend you can borrow an amp from? That way ou can try it out without spending any $. Better to get the one you really want like Steve suggested.

    Thanks for the replys.
I could probably make a 5500 or 5800 fit if I removed a shelf from my so called rack. This would let me put the amp on the bottom and set my receiver on top of it and everything should fit.Is this acceptable or not? I was kinda worried about things gettin to warm.

Don't do it. Even if the heat doesn't kill one of the unit, the amount of dust that will accumulate inside your receiver will be a lot.

If you don't have room on your rack, place it on the floor. Make some sort of amp stand like you see in hifi shows. Make sure the bottom vents don't get blocked.
