I just picked up a second pair of 10B's yesterday and do they sound great?.....well, yes. Series II....my old one are a first run. I am also picking up a pair of 10A's today, and they look to be excellent.

There have been threads on upgrading the 10's...I recall the need to modify the tweeter "hole" to put in the new tweeters.....since I can never get the search function to work...

can one of you has done the mod help me with a link....thanks

you would need to enlarge the tweeter cutouts on the 10a's IF you are going to swap out the Peerless. The 10 series II should not require any modifications to use the RDO-198's.

The peerless tweeters are pretty darn good. Not sure you need to swap them on the 10A's. You may think different though.

"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion." :\
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

Personally, I like to keep loudspeakers sounding like they originally did. To me, keeping Peerless, SL1k, SL2k, etc. tweeters would be a priority. If you already have a pair of Monitor 10-II's, keep them as they are or upgrade the tweeter to RD0198's.

Now wait... are these 10b's, or 10 Series II's? If they're the series II's, they should have the SL3000 tweeter, which I didn't think was all that bad when I had my set. Check around the dome of the tweeter and see if they have a foam ring around them.
    Ludicrous gibs!

Monitor's had the SL2500 tweeter: the SL3000 and RD0198 tweeters are drop-in replacements. A picture of them without the grilles on will help us give a 100% ID on them. On a side-note, any vintage Series II speakers have a sticker on the back...

Wooops.... you're right, they were 2500's. Still, they sounded fine.
