....they are opening 6 new stores in DC area. Circuit City couldn't make it and most brick and mortar stores are closing. What's their secret weapon?

Well.....they have been around here in the south for several years. I bought my wide screen from them since they were about $150 cheaper than Best Buys at the time. The ones here carry very little in the way of home audio. They carry mostly TV's and home appliances. And their salesmen will attack you like wolves on a rabbit as soon as you walk in the front doors. :D

...OK !!! Who thinks they will be around in the next 5 years??? Will brick & mortar make a come back? I have a lot of friends who pay a premium to get the "SERVICE". Mom & Pop stores are getting to be a thing of the past. Buttttt....all GOOD ideas recycle.

Bye the Way!!! ...anyone in DC area know of a place to hear "Better Quality" audio? Can't believe "Meyer Emco" closed.

They've been on the far west side of Akron (Ohio) for quite a few years and I purchased both of my 1080p Panasonic Viera Plasmas from them. They are right next to the local Best Buy and seem to pull nearly as much traffic because of their wise choice of location.

Here, they tend to match Internet competitor pricing. I think taking those thin margins will make it tough for them to survive over the long haul.

I bought my appliances from them 5 years ago and a plasma screen from them a few years back. They are good for appliances and TVs. They do price match. I like them better than best buy, but that is not saying much.

They've been in the Indy area for decades. Solid and stable company that will be around for a long time.
Salespersons are on a commission base and pull the typical sales bologna on you IF you don't watch it.
I just bought my Panny Plasma and Blue Ray player from them.
Best for TV and appliances as they don' t have much of a room to play out audio gear to speak of.
I saved $100 on my Panny Plasma because of price matching on newspaper advertisement.

They just opened one in the Reading PA area a few month ago as well. I don't have any personal experience buying from them, but have heard from others that they were able to dicker on price a bit for larger purchases. Unheard of at Besy Buy & others like them in this area.

One thing to remember when at HHGregg: the sticker price is never the lowest price they're allowed to sell for.
