DYI Isolators for little $$

Hey all,
Just an update... Have somewhere close to 50 hrs or so on the XO's and WOW! I cant believe the difference! My system is sounding the best I have probabally ever heard it before. It is simply amazing. Only thing is... is now the bass makes my cdp skip. Talked with a custom stereo sound room salesman and found out my cdp is too close to the speakers and I NEEDED some dampening feet.
So since you guys are all about DYI? I made something and wanted to share something I made. (perhaps it may or may not help someone)
I know it will sound cheezy, but here goes. I first took some 8lb. carpet padding and cut 8 squares. Then I took some 3" schedule 40 PVC pipe and cut them with a cutoff saw to make them square/even cuts. I Cut 4 pieces of pipe at 7/8" these are now isolators. I then marked the pads from the inside of the 4 isolators, I cut the pads to now fit inside the isolators (pipe).
Since stacking 2 pads together gave an overall thickness of 1", that is why I cut the pipe to 7/8" to allow for compression of the cdp when resting on top of them.
I painted the isolators flat black to match the rest of my system and here is the finished report:
Works like expensive isolators! No skippage, can turn volume at twelve oclock now! Wow! unbelieveable! You guys can tell me what you think!
Thanks guys.
Enjoy!
Matt

Look pretty good!
Are you placing them under the feet of the unit?
I'm curious if you noticed a sonic difference?..... ><////(*> -
Yes they are under the feet. and yes I can tell a sonic difference. The error tracking/correcting system is freed up to play more info. It is amazing with all the mods I have done
I can hear viritually everything now. Its breathtaking.
