Hi guys, I've been trolling some sites like E-bay and noticed an awful
lot of factory refurbished gear out there. Not to pound any brand but
clearly there was an abundance of POLK stuff out there. I can see
dealer demos beening roughed up but were talking private parties here.
So the question is do you take the risk of getting a f/r unit or is it the
same as buying something as is.Why is so much stuff in need of repair
in the first place.

I wouldn't sweat buying factory refurbished DIRECTLY from Polk, but beyond that I probably wouldn't.

eBay is a dump for anything new or old or requires fixing. But I don't see there are so much polk stuff in need of repairs. Some really old ones may requires TLC coz years of use and abuse. It's the same for every other brand if you look for them too.

Anyway, if you can't do TLC, don't buy the stuff requires fixing. Just buy the things that work in the first place.

+1 for what steveinaz said. I have also bought from the site with the refurbished H&K, JBL and infinity equipment. Comes with a warranty. Little shorter than new but have had no issues. All components are factory refurbished.

I agree that eBay purchases carry some risk. No proven history and often by the time you discover an issue ..... its too late to do anything about it. F/R direct from PA

Most of Polk Direct items are open box returns or people just found they weren't the right fit in their rigs. No worries buying refurbs from PD as most are still brand new.

I have or should say I wouldn't have any worries buying directly from Polk.
They've got some of the best customer service in the audio world. PERIOD!
Ebay can be a crap shoot but Polk is rock solid.
It's one of the reasons I'm a huge Polk fan. You gotta love a company that takes care of their customers. They even support the vintage products still and few companies still do that.

Totally agree. I bought the RTi8s from Polk Direct and they look (and sound) brand new.

Polk Direct had great customer service and the prices were fantastic. Totally confident in buying from them again.
