Building 5.1 around T15's
Hi - new to the forum. I've got a pair of T15's by picture, description, size, and speaker/port placement, although they say R15 on the back. I've had them a few years and really like their sound and size. I want to build out a 5.1 set up around them as front speakers.
I see the CSR center channel speaker on the Polk website, but can't find a comment or post anywhere on its performance. I would guess it's a good match for what I've got. My TV is on the wall, and although the CSR is not small, it's not as deep as the other center speakers and I can't to go too big. I've read that the center speaker is the most inmportant, but I do have a space issue.
Any other recommended centers to match my fronts?
Thanks.

Well, the T15 is aesthetically different from the R15, but that is where the differences end. The drivers and performance are exactly the same. The R15's were discontinued, and now Best Buy sells the T15's exclusively.
As for a matching center, the CSR will not match well as it uses a different tweeter. Polk uses two different tweeters for the R/T series.
1) The "old tweeter" - used in the R50, R30, R20, R15, CSi25, CSM
2) The "new tweeter" - used in the R300, R150, CSR
The correct match for your R15's would be either a CSi25 or CSM. Both use the same drivers and perform the same. Once again, it is just aesthetic differences. Unfortunately, neither is a current product, but you should be able to find one used quite easily. I have a CSM, which matches perfectly with my two R50's (front) and four T15's (surround). I originally had a CSR, and it really did not match well at all. As such, it was very distracting. -
Thanks so much for the info. You've probably saved me some frustration.
