mix and match

Hi guys,
My question today is to mix and add different brands of speakers and
subs. From what I can tell it would be yes , but calling Klipsch they
advised against doing this saying they were a set for a reason. I have
a matched set of Klipsch500s which are clear as could be and truth be told what I could afford at the time.I'm pretty shure I mix it up but I need more info on this
