Just picked up this movie and all I can say is WOW!

A spy in the police force. A spy in the mob. When the two cross paths they race against each other to reveal the other's identity.

Not necessarily a new concept but a clever one that's directed with great craft and great actors.

Apparently Brad Pitt and company have picked up the rights to produce a North American version-as a lot of Holywood studios are looking towards Asian Cinema for ideas and remakes ie- The Ring,

    Jack Nicholson will sure gather the movie an even bigger profile.

    What's sad is how the original masterpeice got little promotion at theatres and is now relegated as some B-movie cops and robbers Hong Kong flick.

    I'll check out this remake but nothing can top Tony Leung's performance. Plus Andy Lau has certainly matured as an actor for this movie too.

    I read that Scorsese hasn't even watched Infernal Affairs yet - just so he can go in there with his own vision. Should be interesting....

    My friends and I keep discussing why the the original wasn't even promoted at all to the general public. It's as if it was decided that the American public will not be attracted to a good movie with Chinese actors and subtitles.

    To be honest, when it was announced that "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon" was to be unleashed on the American public, I was very skeptical. Chow Yun-fat was not exactly a household names and put him in a martial arts period film? With dialog in Mandarin?? Talk about being out of his elements. The fact that the movie went on to gross over $120 million in the US alone indicates that a "big name" star isn't necessary to attact a big audience. Certainly those who are into Asian films know who Andy Lau and Tony Leung are.

    Seeing the American cover to the DVD of "Infernal Affairs" makes me sick.

    Watched it just last night. Excellent motion picture. Great concept and performances.

    If you like a good flick and aren't afraid of non-english dialogue, then this one should be on your short list of movies to see. Engrossing.

    Oh, and I know that the folks here enjoyed the audio boutique scenes as much as I did. I got so carried away and into those scenes, that for a second or two I thought I was F1nut. I wanted to buy a thousand dollar interconnect to go along with that ten thousand dollar tube amp. ;>}

    Check this flick out, you'll undoubtedly enjoy it.

    Turns out Andy Lau, in real life, is/was a co-owner of a major Hong Kong recording studio....one in which Peter Gabriel has recorded at.....
